*mid april*
Christians povWe were on fire. I was on fire. Kaitlyn was on fire. Our relationship was on fire, the good fire. We'd only lost four games since the season started, and if you're asking me I think a thirteen and four record so far is amazing.
"You ready?" I said walking into Kaitlyns office. She was sitting on the floor surrounded by papers and her laptop.
"So don't be mad."
"You gotta work late again don't you." She looked up with a frowny face.
"I'm sorry." I knelt down and kissed her.
"It's okay, do what you gotta do."
"Why don't you go home I'll just Uber."
"No I can wait again it's okay."
"Are you sure? I don't know how long it'll be tonight and I don't want you waiting again."
"It's okay I'll just hang in the clubhouse."
"Okay if you insist."
"Of course."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
I got up and walked out and went and laid on the couch.
"Dude why are you still here?" Jacob said walking over in workout clothes.
"Kaitlyns working. Why are you here?"
"I'm gonna go hit. Why don't you go home I'll just take her since I'll be here."
"Are you sure man? I can wait here I've done it before."
"Yeah I know which is why I'm offering to take her this time since I'll be here doing stuff. You'd be sitting here doing nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah man I got it. You need sleep you deserve it. When she's ready we'll go."
"All right well I'll let her know then. Thanks Jacob I owe you one."
"Don't worry about, you play for us that's good enough."
"Later dude."
"Bye." I walked back towards her office.
"Hey babe."
"Hi." She said without looking up.
"So Jacobs here to work on his hitting and he said he could just take you home if you wanted since he'll be here anyways."
"Yeah he can do that that's fine. That way you can go sleep."
"Alright cool. Then I'm gonna go home."
"Okay babe." She looked up and I kissed her.
"I'll see you tomorrow I love you."
"I love you too." She went back to working and I walked out.

Jacobs pov
"Kaitlyn," I gently shook her. She was hunched over at her desk laying on papers. She started to stir and slowly sat up and rubbed her eyes. I chuckled. "Morning sunshine."
"Oh my god was I sleeping?"
"Yeah you were."
"Ugh I'm sorry. How long have you been waiting?"
"Not long at all, I got out of the shower like ten minutes ago."
"I feel less bad then." I laughed.
"You wanna go sleep in your bed now?"
"I probably should yes."
She packed her bag and we left.
"So how are things between you and Christian?" I ask as I pull out of the parking lot.
"They're good. I feel bad though because I've been working so late recently. Even when we go home I work, no matter who's place we're at. So we haven't been spending a lot of time together and I feel bad. I still find time to be with him of course and we go on dates and everything. But I feel like all I've been doing around him is working."
"Well he talks about you nonstop so I think he's okay with it. At least from what I've heard."
"Really?"
"Yeah he talks about you guys all the time. He's super into you."
"Awe."
"Yeah it's cute. He talked about last week when he met Hailie and how he almost burned the apartment down trying to cook for you guys."
"Oh god." She started laughing.
"Was it as bad as he said?"
"My apartment was filled with smoke."
"Oh shit he did almost burn it down."
"Yup. I love the guy but, he needs a cooking lesson. So do Cody and Corey."
"Oh believe me I know. Living with Cody is,"
"An adventure." I looked over at her and laughed.
"Got that right."
"How are you?" She said turning in her seat to face me more.
"Oh I'm good. Excited to be in the big leagues officially. You know cause of you." She smiled and it warmed my heart. Why was she so cute.
"Well yeah. You deserve it. And I wanted my best friend here with me."
"Awe well thank you."
"Always. But c'mon tell me about Jacob Nottingham. I wanna know more."
"But I told you everything already back in Arizona." She raises an eyebrow.
"Okayyyyy." She made me laugh.
"I'm serious."
"If you say so."
I felt weird sitting there talking to her. I didn't know what it was, but it was something. It was the same thing I felt back in Philly when we toured Citizens Bank Park that day. I didn't know what it was then either.
"Well here you are, home safely."
"Text me when you get home so I know you made it. Thank you Jacob." She leaned over and kissed my cheek. "Goodnight." There was that feeling again. What the hell was it?
"Night." I stayed and watched and waited for her to get in safely.
My drive home was quiet. I didn't like it. It felt empty. Her scent lingered in my car. Her laugh rang in my head.
I made my way upstairs and threw my keys on the table when I walked in.
"Millie I'm home." She popped her head up from the couch. I took out my phone and texted Kaitlyn.
Me: Hey I just got home
Millie got off the couch and followed me to my room.
"You ready for bed girl?" She looked up at me and smiled. My phone went off and I smiled. There was that feeling again.
Kaitlyn🤪: Good! Thank you again for taking me home. I really appreciate it
Me: Of course, always
Kaitlyn🤪: Go get some sleep, you deserve it. See you tomorrow! 😚❤️
Me: You deserve to get some sleep too hun. See you tomorrow 😚❤️"Holy shit."
I sat down as Millie jumped up and tilted her head at me. It all made sense now.
"I have feelings for Kaitlyn."
