*three days later*
Kaitlyns povA few days ago news broke that Christian was signing a seven year extension with the Brewers. Today was the day it was made official. Everyone was super excited, Christian was about to be a Brewer for life. I was sitting in my office preparing questions when Christian walked in, shut the door, sat down, and leaned his head against the wall.
"Hey babe,"
"Please I just need a minute." His eyes were closed, he was breathing heavy, he was griping the arms and he was shaking.
"Take a deep breath, you're okay." I said as I got up and walked over to him.
"I can't fucking breathe."
"Okay hey you're okay what's going on." I knelt in front of him and placed my hands on his knees. "Talk to me baby." He opened his eyes and they were full of tears.
"I'm freaking out over something I really want. I don't understand."
"It's a big step in your life that's why. It's a big commitment."
"I wasn't like this when I signed for the Marlins."
"Why do you think it's different this time?"
"Because I love this organization and the city and the people?"
"I'm gonna go with yes."
"I just don't get it. Why am I freaking out?"
"Maybe it's the good nerves, you just feel excited."
"But you'd think I could still at least breathe." He cracked a laugh.
"Gimme your hand." I took his hand and placed it over my heart, clasping my hands around his. "Close your eyes, try to slow your breathing with mine. Ground yourself. In for three, hold, out for three." Tears started falling from his eyes but I was quick to reach up and wipe them away. I gently stroked his cheek with my thumb and he leaned into my hand.
"Hey anybody know where Yelich ran off to? We were talking about the time he has to sign the contract and next I knew he was gone." David said walking past my office.
"Please don't knock on her door." Christian said and his breathing picked back up. I leaned our foreheads together.
"You're okay I promise. It'll be okay." I pulled him in and wrapped my arms around him. "I got you you're okay. Just breathe baby I got you."
"Can you sit center so I,"
"Absolutely. I'll be there."
"Thank you."
He let go and I wiped his eyes.
"Alright I gotta go. I've hid my anxiety and shit before who's saying I can't hide it during my contract signing."
"You got this. Remember to breathe and it'll be okay. I'm proud of you."
"Thank you." He leaned down and kissed me and then walked out.
"Please let him get through this."

I sat center a few rows up so I'd be in his eye sight just in case.
"I thought we were sitting on the edge?" Adam said walking up and sitting next to me.
"Changed my mind. I wanted the best seat."
"Makes sense."
"We'll be beginning shortly, first they'll all give short speeches and then we will take a few questions." The moderator said.
