*next morning*
Cody's pov

I rolled over as I groaned and shut off the alarm. Kaitlyn was sitting up rubbing her eyes.

"I hate being awake at four in the morning, thank god I don't have a regular job." She said as she stood up. I laughed.

"It's the good life." I said.

We threw some food in our face and got ready to go. I threw my suitcase in the trunk with her backpack and we said goodbye to my family and we were off. It was dark out still and there was nobody around.

"Alright, day one, how do you feel." She said and I laughed.

"What?"

"Day one of being MVP, how do you feel?"

"The same? It's almost five in the morning I don't really know." She chuckled.

"I just had to ask."

Roads were of course pretty much dead for it being five in the morning. Because of that we were able to gain a lot of ground and were an hour away from being out of Arizona as the sun started to rise.

"God that's so pretty." Kaitlyn said as the sun rose in the horizon.

"It really is."

The next hour was relatively quiet as we just watched the sunrise as we drove towards it.

"Well how fitting is this song!" Kaitlyn said as I laughed and shook my head.

"There is no way this is playing right now. I'm skipping it."

"NO YOU ARE NOT! You won MVP and we're two miles from the border it's like they knew." I laughed again and leaned on my fist. "On a dark desert highway cool wind in my hair."

"No don't start singing it." I begged.

"Warm smell of colitas,"

"Kaitlyn no."

"Rising up in the air."

"Oh god help me." I shook my head and opened and Instagram. This was her fault.

"I thought I heard them say,"

"WELCOME TO THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA!" I hated how she always got me to join in. Every time, it never failed.

"You're all over my Insta story but that's your fault not mine." I said as the song ended.

"I got you to join in that's all that matters." She said as she looked over and smiled at me.

"Yeah yeah whatever."

We continued jamming to music along the way. As we got closer to LA we started to hit the traffic and slowed down. But we were still making great time.

"I hate LAX traffic oh my god." She said as she leaned on the steering wheel as we were at another dead stop. I laughed.

"We all do. Welcome back to LA champ." She hit my arm.

"Shut up."

"Love you."

"Mhm love you too." I laughed and she just shook her head.

Eventually we got in and found a parking spot. We were an hour early so we just sat in the car and talked for a little bit before we walked in.

"Now comes the fun part, finding the gate." She said.

Thankfully the terminal we were in was one of the less crowded ones today so it was easier to find the gate.

"SHE'S OFF THE PLANE!" Kaitlyn started shaking me. "SHE'S HERE! I'M GONNA CRY I MISS HER SO MUCH!"

"Let's not give me whiplash though." She rolled her eyes.

"Shut up."

Kaitlyn started standing on her tiptoes to see through the crowd as she looked for Hailie.

"You want me to put you on my shoulders so you can see better?" She pushed me.

"Meanie." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Just trying to be nice."

I looked through the crowd to help of course, I wasn't that mean. Off in the distance I saw Hailie. She caught my eye and smiled bigger, knowing Kaitlyn was obviously by me.

"OH MY GOD!" Kaitlyn said and took off running towards her.

They stood there in the middle of the terminal hugging and crying. I obviously snapped some pictures because that's what I do.

"I missed you so much." I heard Kaitlyn say.

"I missed you more." Hailie said. They let go and laughed as they wiped their eyes. "Hey Cody good to see you! Congrats!" We hugged.

"Thank you thank you. It's good seeing you too. How was the flight?"

"Alright. There was a crying baby the first hour or so but otherwise it was fine."

"That's good. Let's go get her luggage, that's a hassle and a half." Kaitlyn said.

Kaitlyn looked happier now. She still had that sad hint in her eyes though, she had every right to be too. She had a lot going on with her uncle and everything. But I knew she missed being with Jacob most. I wanted them back together for the sake of their happiness and because I knew how much they loved each other. But I didn't want them having some friends with benefits thing.

Kaitlyns pov

We dropped Cody off at the house and then it was just us.

"You have door parking? How?" Hailie asked as we pulled up.

"Kenzie and Walker have it, I got it too. Everyone's super sweet."

"They went back to Kentucky already right?"

"Yeah they did, otherwise yes you could meet them."

"Ugh darn."

We got in the elevator and I pressed my floors button.

"FLOOR TWENTY TWO?"

"Just wait." I said. We got off and walked to my door.

"KAITLYN STOP WITH THIS. YOU DO NOT LIVE IN APARTMENT TWENTY TWO ON FLOOR TWENTY TWO."

"It's what they had open!"

"GIRL." I chuckled, shook my head and opened the door. "Woah holy shit."

"Welcome."

"Kaitlyn this is huge."

"Let me show you around, obviously this is main living. Your room is here,"

"THE VIEW!"

"It's like this in every room except my office."

"Ugh I love it."

I showed her the rest and we headed back to the kitchen but she stopped and looked at all the pictures.

"You still hung it up?" She asked, referring to the NLDS picture of Jacob and I. "And, all the Christian pictures too."

"Yeah, I did. I had to. Jacob and I are friends, and you know I guess Christian and I are getting there."

"You know as much as I hate him, you and Christian were really cute together."

"Yeah I know we were."

We were really cute. Hell we were hot. And I really did love him. I knew I did. But there's no way I could tell him I still had feelings for him now. Even if he maybe still felt the same way. Nothing would even happen between us.
