*5 hours later*
Kaitlyns povDay games were annoying because we had to be there so early, but they were nice because then we had the night off. Unless it was a travel day like today. But they were absolute shit when you didn't sleep at all the night before.
"Here I got us more coffee." Jacob said walking into my office handing me Starbucks.
"Oh thank god."
"Who's on your list?"
"You, Ryan, Woody, Manny once he shows up and Yelich."
"I get the first four, why Yelich?"
"He's in a slump and people wanna know why."
"Well he can't exactly say he cheated on you and is now stuck with some random chick and regrets life and now he has too much to think about, so hopefully he's a fast thinker."
"People will believe whatever he says because it's him. It's gonna be some bullshit of not being in the right headspace or some shit. Whatever I don't care."
"He disgusts me now. We were so close but not anymore. It's wrong. Well good luck today babe. I'll see you later." He turned around and back and leaned over my desk and kissed me. He left and I couldn't stop smiling.
"Well someone looks happy while being exhausted." Ryan said walking into my office, snapping me out of my daze.
"Oh uh,"
"What is it spill the tea." I chuckled.
"Spill the tea? Did you take that from me?"
"Yes I did. Now spill."
"Nothing Jacob just made me laugh."
"Alright sure. Why are you so tired though? Did you just not sleep?"
"Um no I didn't. I got like two hours. I'm surviving on coffee today."
"Well you'll be awake once we're out there. See you soon for the interview."
~
We interviewed Ryan and Woody first. We got Jacob while Manny settled in, then him. Then we went over to Christians locker and got his. Everyone was joking around and asking silly things. Then Adam asked the hard question. Thank god I didn't have to do it.
"So Christian everyone's wondering what's going on lately at the plate. Any idea?" He looked at me before he answered.
"Um yeah it's just that mid-season lull some guys hit. I guess this year it hit me. I'm working on it with the coaches and just getting back into that headspace at the plate. I'll be okay."
Called it. I zoned out for the rest of the interview and barely even realized it was over until Adam bumped into me as he turned away. We all started walking out of the clubhouse when he called after me.
"Uh Kaitlyn hang on." A bunch of the guys, including Jacob were there too, now having their full attention on us. All the reporters were gone, but me.
"What."
"Can we talk somewhere for a second?"
"Here's somewhere."
"In private?"
"You're hilarious." I started to walk away but he grabbed my arm.
"Okay okay okay,"
I crossed my arms, "Talk."
"Can we just talk about this? Us?"
"Talk about what. There's nothing to talk about. There is no 'us' Christian."
