The Freshman

In the cemetery late at night, Buffy paced back and forth while Willow and I sat cross legged, looking over some papers she and Will had.

"Anything?" Buffy asked sighing.

"Ah introduction to the Modern Novel" Willow said. "A survey study of the twentieth century novelists, open to freshmen, you might like that."

"introduction to the Modern Novel?" Buffy asked frowning. "I'm guessing I'd probably have to read the modern novel?"

"Maybe more than one." I told her.

"I like books." Buffy told us. "I just don't want to take on too much, do they have an introduction to the modern blurb?"

"Oh!" Willow said excitedly. "Short story"

"Well, that's good."

I looked over where Willow was pointing and shook my head. 

"Nope, it conflicts with Psych."

"Maybe I shouldn't take Psych." Buffy told us.

"You gotta." I told her. "It's the only class we get together."

"Tori's right" Willow told her. "I-It's fun, a-and you can use it as your science requirement. Anyway, Professor Walsh is supposed to be great. She's like, world-renowned."

"How do you get to be renowned?" Buffy asked. "I mean like do you have to be nowned first?"

"Yes" I said. "First there's the painful nowning process." 

"Wait" Willow said. "Images of Pop culture' This is good T-They watch movies, T-TV shows, even commercials." 

"For credit?"

"Isn't college cool?" I asked smiling at them.

"How'd I miss that one?" Buffy asked coming over and sitting beside us.

"Well you did sort of wait till last minute with your course selection."

"She's kinda right Buffy" I said.

"Sorry Miss-I-chose-my-major-in-playgroup" Buffy said and glanced at me. 

"That's an exaggeration" Willow said.

"You're just jealous." I told her smirking.

"Well while Tori was in Louisiana this summer, I've been busy!" Buffy told us. "It's been a very slay-heavy summer. I just haven't had a whole lot of time to think about life at UC Sunnydale."

"Sorry Buffy but I had to tell the family what happened." I told them shrugging. "Plus it's been a long time since we had a trip to Paris, even my great aunt came to visit we haven't seen her since Godric passed away we've been reconnecting and stuff."

"I didn't even know you had a great aunt." Willow said. 

"You usually talk about your family all the time but never mentioned it." Buffy said in agreement. 

"Her name is Carissa, she's Godric's younger sister." I told them. "She's a Tribrid and lives in Boston, she visits every ten years or so, she's got a daughter Alexis and son Ben." 

"Tri brid?" Buffy repeated.

I nodded. 

"It's a witch, vamp and wolf mixed into one."

"That's so cool." Willow said smiling.

"Yeah speaking of which Alexis will be coming to stay with us for a while." I told them earning looks. "She wanted to get away from the city so she'll be going to school here."
