Chapter 40 - Alexandria

As the early afternoon sun glares through the windows of Negan's truck, Jack ponders about what is going to happen when they get the kid home. Obviously she knows that Rick will be mad, and he will probably make up some good excuse as to why Carl was at the sanctuary. Jack even believes that Rick could have sent him there, but she is unsure if that is true or not.

Negan looks over to her as she stares out the window, Carl looking blank faced in the back seat. He reaches his hand across the seat to place it on her thigh, giving her a light squeeze that makes her jump up.

"What are you doing?" Jack says wiping her eyes, she had fallen asleep for a few minutes, but Negan knows that they are close to Alexandria so he had to wake her up. "You scared the shit out of me, i kinda dozed off for a minute"

"Sorry baby, we're almost there, you alright back there kid, we should be at your posh little home soon"

"What are you going to do when we get there?" Jack knows it's early for a pickup yet, so is this a surprise visit if it is then Rick will shit his pants, more over the fact that Negan has Carl.

"Just wait and see, i got lots of tricks up my sleeve" he chuckles deeply, while Jack shakes her head. The thought of having to deal with these people again is rattling her mind, things will get worse she can feel it in her gut. This little stunt with the kid is just the beginning of something bigger.

After what they did at the outpost, they will do that again and maybe next time it will be the sanctuary, her home. There are kids, and innocent people living there, Jack cares about her people, they are Negan's people but they are hers too and she will do whatever to protect them, most of all Negan.

Jack prepares herself for this exchange today, she can't help but feel nervous and she gets her answer when they arrive at the gates of Alexandria Safe Zone. The tall walls overlook the street that they drive onto and the gates open up as Negan pulls in, along with two other trucks.

"Alrighty then, Carl let's go see if your daddys home, i just got a feeling he might be happy to see me" Negan steps out of the truck, holding his prized bat close and Jack walks out as well, her gun close to her reach if she has to shoot and she will too.

"So, which house belongs to the infamous Rick Grimes? Lead the way Carl, show me and my girl your lovely home"

Carl walks past him in a hurry as Negan wraps his arm around Jack and they follow him through the streets of Alexandria. Jack takes notice once again of the lavish community, the nice houses, the church they have and the small pond in the distance. This is a fairly nice community, these people have it made, she could see herself and Negan living in a nice house like this, living peacefully together without anything like this violence he ensues.

But this is the apocalypse there is no such things as fairytales or happily ever afters anymore, sure she has the love of her life with her but they will never live in peace like she dreams of. Jack just wants her life with Negan, that is all she needs, and maybe someday they will have the life she wants them to have.

The towns people look on as they see Negan again and most of these people fear him, as they should. He has put the fear in them for a reason to assert his power, so that they know he owns this town and all of it's shit too.

Jack keeps walking with Negan behind the young boy as he makes his way to a large house, that must be his home. The house has a wrap around porch, it looks to be a nice house and Jack is actually jealous of the fact that these people live so nicely inside these wall. Jack knows that she loves her home at the sanctuary, but this town is nice, she would love to live here, if these people weren't already here.

"Wow, this place is really fuckin' nice huh baby, couldn't you see us living in a house like this, sitting on the front porch, you barefoot, rubbing my back, maybe gettin' a little freaky while we're at it" Negan cracks the joke and it goes over Carl's head, he honestly just ignores the sexual comments made by Negan and Jack.
