" You can't take it back
With all, I try
All I know's that
You can't shape me
I've been up and I've been down
And I was kind of hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Well I've had high hopes up til now
And I was kind of hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero"
-Yours Truly, "High Hopes"
Normal parents tell their kids they can do anything. They make them believe anything is possible. They give them these high hopes for big dreams and want them to follow that way of life. Those parents want success for their kids. They want their kids to have it all when they get older. Those kids will have good jobs, great financial records, and a great life. That is the American dream.
My parents are different. They live in the most real-world that exists. They always tell me when I am starting to sound like I am dreaming. Which is usually all the time. I have high hopes and they shut them down whenever they get the chance. Other kids have the idea that they will be some rich doctor living in Los Angeles or someplace magical. My idea is I am going to college and going with whatever the fuck I can get. I am not expecting very much from myself because I have seen the way this world works. I am going to be honest. This world is shit. My idea of work is being a Photographer. If I were to dream big, my job would be a photographer working for NASCAR. I have a large love for cars and photography, as well as racing. I also love art and writing, but I do not see any careers out there for me that involve all of these things.
I was taught the hard way not to have big dreams because they will crush you in the end. News flash. Not everyone will become a star athlete or a big fucking star. That is not reality. They say if you have enough ambition and determination, then you will achieve your dreams. That is the biggest load of horse shit I have ever heard in my life. Reality is tough and not everything goes the way you plan. That is just life.
