..clinging to my body was a very beautiful girl, tall and built into shape in a way that it would be hard to believe she was just getting to sixteen years of age.. Only her face and voice could make you suspect. She was the youngest of all those that came in our batch, in fact she was so timid and childish that both of her parent came with her during the screening and registration..
How did we end up in this hugging position?
It was when she was being bullied by some girls in class on the day of orientation that I and Jasmine walked in and intervened, she had began to refer to us as mum and dad..
"Dad? "She said as she rise her head from my shoulders staring into my eyes, "you don't look okay, what's going on? "
I tried to fake a smile but no she was an expert of my emotions and knew when I was faking to be alright..
Just then, we saw Jasmine and Edward walking hand in hand out of the classroom..
"Daddy, "Vicky started.. "Is that not t mummy? What's going on? "She asked
"There's no mummy"I said trying to be calm..
"But I want my mummy and daddy"she purred
"Your daddy is at home!! "I flared as I felt the long awaited anger take it's throne as I bowed in submission to it..
She froze in shock. She wasn't expecting me to say that.. I too never wanted to but it just came out...
Well I turned away from her wide open eyes refusing to apologize.
Just then I felt her steal a hug at me quietly, as if she was trying not to trigger an alarm...
"Am sorry"she muttered under her breath...
Immediately I felt broken.. I felt sorry..
I dragged her to a tighter hug and kissed her head..., I was taller.
"You, I don't want you getting involved in all this"I said with my face in her natural afro..
She looked up at me, "I want to daddy"
She called me daddy again.. It reminded me of Jasmine's betrayal..
I pulled her like a disappointed father who caught his daughter in a shameful act and headed to my lodge as she skipped behind me like Isaac...
