I went in with her, we settled down and began to read, I asked questions, she answered some.
I asked about Vicky's where about too, she'd say she didn't know anything about it, at first I thought she was hiding information but as time passed it turned out that she had no clue and that she too was left in the dark by Vicky,
Time passed, yeah, five days of me rushing from class every day to meet with the new girl, Hope.
"Two weeks and five days already" I said to myself as I was dropping my bag. I was just coming from class, today was Tuesday, last day of the year.
School had closed a week before today but our economics lecturer had been absent for sometime this semester and begged us to spare him some days before the new year for him to cover up and today was the last class.
Edward had already traveled home as well as most of the students in the school, just our department was remaining and it was so annoying but I didn't mind, reading Vicky's diary was interesting but was it just the diary that was making me happy?
I noticed that since day one of our little book club, Hope would always steal glances at me and any slight chance she had to hold my hands, she would and give it a little squeeze.
Was I falling in love again already?
It seemed like something was starting to creep in between us.
Just yesterday when she was escorting me back to my lodge, she kept holding my hand in hers and I kept stealing glances at her and when she said hugged me and  goodnight, I had an urge to pull her back and.....
Okay I pulled her back and hugged her again and....
"Hello?" I stopped thinking as I heard a voice at my door.
I hesitated a bit.
"Barney are you there?"
It was Hope! She came to my lodge! How did she know my Lo.. Oh okay I allowed her to escort me yesterday after much pleading.
I felt some uneasy feeling and a tiny bit of excitement.
No, I shook my head, I'm not going to let anyone else in I said to myself.
I walked to open the door.
"Yeyyyy Hello Barneeyyyyy" she said with excitement written all over her face as she saw me.
"Hi," I replied with not so much excitement in my tone.
"You don't seem happy to see me Barnabas" She said noticing the fake excitement I was trying to put up.
"I am, I wasn't just expecting you to come.... Here" replied smiling as I opened the door for her to come in.
"I was hoping to surprise you, you know?" she replied as she walked inside "Nice place you've got here B"
I shut the door behind me and was going to say something when she turned to face me and put her hands around my neck.
Both of us stared at each other, in her eyes I saw her need and hunger for me.
"I love you Barney" she said as she drew her face closer to mine.
"love me?" I asked "Today is just the fifth day we're meeting each other"
"From you," she replied "But from me, I've known you long before now, Vicky used to tell me all about you and I used to read about you in her diary"
"So?" I asked trying to hide my embarrassment  not knowing what else to say.
"I used to think she was exaggerating" she continued "But the day I met you in person, I knew she wasn't..."
"And you love me?" I asked as if I didn't hear it the first time.
She nodded and drew closer for a kiss..
I pulled back, took her hands from around my neck as she looked at me in shock.
"I'm sorry I can't" I said.
She laughed first then frowned "So you think I'm throwing myself at you?" she asked then stopped as if she was trying to gain control of her self
Oh, seems she was angry but it I didn't mind, I just stood there staring at her.
"Barney, I know you love Vicky" she continued.. "But she's gone, and maybe I moved too fast to express my feelings for you, I'm sorry." she stopped and looked away.
I stood there still staring at her. This was the time I was supposed to say something but I just stood there.
She looked back at me and shook her head.." I am not a flirt, I just can't hide my feelings because I don't want someone else to take you away before me" she stopped again and looked away.
I knew she was sincere and that Vicky was gone for good but I still couldn't let someone else enter into my heart.
Every love I had was for Vicky and I wasn't ready to let anyone else replace that feeling..
"Hope?" I finally spoke. She turned to look at me with a sad expression.
"I know you love me, it's obvious." I started "I've noticed it through all the times we spent together these four days reading Vicky's journal" I stopped.
"Please don't say but" she begged.
"please let me be sincere here" I replied.
"Go on" she said looking at me with uncertainty in my eyes.
"I know how you feel about me but I don't feel the same way for you and it's..." I stopped as I saw her eyes become teary "I swear it's not just you, I can't feel love for anyone aside Victoria"
"But she's gone and she's not coming back!" she said almost shouting..
"I know and it kills me that I can't love anyone the way I loved her" I shot back getting angry this time.
She nodded her head and wiped her face with the back of her hand.
"Open the door" She said fighting back the tears.
"You're leaving now?" I asked
"Please open the door for me" she said ignoring my question.
"Alright," I said as opened the door "I'm sorry th.." I was going to say when I stopped, noticing someone standing at my door entrance as soon as I opened the door.
I turned to see who it was, Immediately my blood went from normal to boiling temperature, my eyes widened in shock, it was as if I was stung by a snake.. Standing at my door entrance......
"Dad!"
"Vicky!" I screamed...
