There was silence.
"Let me guess"I broke the silence, "he got mad?"I asked
"Who? My brother? "
"No, I mean Eugene? "
"No, he was actually sad when I told him I'd be leaving tomorrow," she began "he became so cold and began picking at his food and typing into his phone and avoiding eye contact.."
She turned her face to the floor.. "I think I hurt him dad"
I smiled, "well, he's just sad that you're travelling, who won't be? " I said trying to bring out her smile but she just kept staring at the floor..
"It's gonna be an empty coffin" she said still staring at the floor..
I didn't get at first..
"My elder brother said that my dad's body wasn't recognized from the accident as the motor burned after landing from three summersaults.. " she broke down in tears..
She was trying to hold herself all along but she couldn't anymore..
I Drew her close to me into a side embrace without saying a word..
From the little I had read(red) from her diary I knew she and her biological father were very close.. Closer than anything..
I could understand how she would be feeling alone now..i tightened the embrace as if trying to bodily tell her I was there...
"I didn't get to say goodbye" she continued with tears...
"I'm scared of going dad" she said "I can't bear to see them bury an empty coffin because my dad's body wasn't found. .."
I still didn't say anything because I was honestly out of words to say..
I felt the pain and sadness burning through her veins
I opened my mouth to try console her but all that came out was "I love you Vicky"
She clenched her hands over mine and rested her head on my chest..
"I swear I don't know what else to say but I know you'd be fine"I finally saw my words coming back..
I kept her close till she had pulled herself together...then there was another period of silence..
I tried to make her smile...
"So I read(red)  about Peter your first crush today" I said
And she chuckled and then began to laugh...
She continued to laugh...
