...I heard a tiny sound in the background, I perceived a familiar scent.. It was the scent of Vicky's perfume..
Immediately I opened my eyes... Oh... I woke up? No, it didn't look like I was sleeping...
I started recalling how I got weak and passed out...
The scent became stronger
I turned my head to the other side of the bed but Vicky wasn't there..
I sat up.. "Goodmorning dad " Vicky walked in all dressed. "How was your night? "She asked walking towards where I was and sat..
I nodded... "How was yours? " I asked picking at her hair.
"Fine fine"she responded "I've prepared warm water for you in the bathroom and a new toothbrush.. "
I looked at her and was about to say something when she turned to look at me in the eyes.. "I don't know... "She started
"Don't know what? "I asked
"I don't know if I call her mum you'd be mad but I think she sent you a message "she said..
I just stared back.. No words came..
"I don't know what she did dad but she sent an I'm sorry message "she added and paused expecting me to respond but I just sat there looking...
She took my hand and began to look at them...
I stared at Vicky for like five minutes trying to understand why I wasn't saying anything....
I pulled my hands from her's, got out of the bed and went into the bathroom...
I locked the door, turned the shower on but didn't go under...
I just stood there staring at the falling water like I'd never seen it before....
Something was happening to me and it was far from anger...
No, this wasn't anger...
I felt like I was in a kind of a paused movie, like under water, like in a stopped time zone... Like... Like I was in a dream!!
Is this what heartbreak means?
I put my hand to try to catch the falling water,
Flashes of the "I'm sorry" text started flashing into my head...
I walked under the water, it was cold like ice, I saw the warm water Vicky kept for me...still,shivering with gnashing teeth... I stood under the shower of falling cold water..
