Chapter 16

Susie's POV

"He wants to help with your assignment about BEASTS?!" Steve is freaking out about it, Steve wanted to look into Newt without giving him a hint that we got doubts about him, now that I mentioned it to Newt, Steve was thinking that Newt would try to hide himself and be more careful around us so that we couldn't find out about him.

"Steve please, do you still think that he can be a beast ? I saw his face when I mentioned it, he's completely normal about it...I don't think he__"

"Susie, I KNOW what I saw, he's not normal, either you want to help me to find out about him or I can do it myself" 

I hissed looking at my lunch, we were at the cafeteria. Jo wasn't here yet, so I and Steve can talk about this crazy stuff. After a moment Steve calmed his voice and said

"Look...You said we can still be friends and as a friend I want you to trust me. He's dangerous Susie"

"I want to trust you but it's just.. " I don't even know why I couldn't believe it.

Newt, yes he's very unusual and there are things about him that I can't explain, from the very first time I saw him, there's been this feeling like he's kind of dangerous but by the time passed and the days I've spent time with him, that fear in me of him has gone and now this, him being a beast, that's really hard for me to believe.

"Its just what?" Steve asked, waiting for me to talk.

"I don't know...he's ah.." it's like I know a lot about him and also not at the same time. I was staring at my lunch, running my fork around the plate.

"You are scared, aren't you?" Steve asked, I looked up to see what he meant by that.

"You don't want to admit the fact that he's dangerous because if that's true, you know you can't be with him.. isn't that right?" He said like he saw right through me.

"I don't know what you're talking about" I said and before he could say anymore Jo came and joined us.

"Hey love birds" she said as she was sitting. I coughed like giving her a sign that we are not dating but it's jo, she would never get it.

"Jo...we are not.." I tried to tell her but Steve interrupted and said

"We are not dating." he said.

"What ?" She asked surprisingly.

"Well...we are still friends so.." he said with a warm smile. I gave one slight smile and took a bite of the apple.

I'm glad he is taking it good, when I told him that I don't want to date him, of course he was upset but then he said that if I'm not ready, he wouldn't pressure me and that he's okay with me being friends. I'm really glad to be friends with him.

"Ohh..." Jo said awkwardly and started eating. After a moment Jo broke the silence and started talking.

"So Susie, did you find your partner for the English essay?" She asked, I looked at Steve then, well he gave me a disappointed look and went back to eating.

I cleared my throat and said " Yeah I did, its ah..Newt"

"Haha and why am I not surprised?!?!...I knew you are gonna pick him as your..."

It's like she forgot that Steve is here and she almost said everything she wanted to before she realized that he is here, she then laughed awkwardly and decided to shut her mouth. This girl will never learn.

"Well then, I'll see you later" Steve said and left. I glared at Jo for a few seconds.

"I'm sorry ok...now stop glaring at me, you are scary" she said without looking at me, I shook my head in disguise.
