This is a string of rants I've written on the page, just before the upcoming "town fiesta" in my place―which is not a festival, at all.

For some reason, I am just not excited for the upcoming "fiesta" in my place. I do understand that each barangay holds small-town fiestas in honor of their patron saint, as well as to forge stronger bonds within the community―but the events during that one day are just . . . loud, extravagant, and pompous for my taste. (Like dance competitions, beauty pageants, and mini-concerts, really? Where in the fuck is the celebration of a patron saint's life in that?) Also, it felt like a town fiesta is the only time for households to flaunt their "wealth" to others, as well as Christmas and New Year's, with excessive amounts of food and refreshments only made possible by borrowing money from relatives―or in the case of families with OFWs, nagging them to send cash their way.

I would rather want to attend Takehara's "Path of Longing" as a tourist―or any other Japanese festival, for that matter―than to be part of a "fake" small-town fiesta as a local. The festivities over there are much closer to the reason they're celebrating that particular day.

I know most of you would say that I am spewing 'Tamayura'-related shit once again, or that I have a bias towards Japan (AKA the "weeb" syndrome), and I don't give a single fuck about it.

Okay, it'll only be a few hours before this small-town "fiesta" starts at my place, yet the mood is just like any ordinary day. God-fucking-dammit―this is just lonely. I'll just go out to the city proper tomorrow.

Man. There's a male dog from a nearby furniture shop―just a few yards away from the variety store I've loitered in front of―that followed me when I walked back to my house. Maybe it decided to stick around me because it recognized me as a pack leader? Jeezus. I did find it both funny and alarming, because it's like an abduction in progress. Luckily, the dog went home on its own.

In other news, the evening's festivities happening as of writing this entry is still as "fake" as it goes. It's more focused on the fleeting moments of shallow entertainment than fostering stronger bonds within the community as a whole. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. I might just go to my new spot at the city proper on the morrow.

I'll reiterate this statement once again: "I would rather want to attend Takehara's 'Path of Longing' as a tourist―or any other Japanese festival, for that matter―than to be part of a fake small-town fiesta as a local."
