Okay, I'm having an epiphany here.

I have mild astigmatism―or maybe moderate, I don't know―which I only discovered last November during a watch-your-health drive in my area, and I have acquired corrective specs for my underlying sight problem. (Thing is, I don't use it very often, as it causes slight discomfort on the bridge of my nose when I wear it for a long time.) However, with a recent discussion on the Filipino Freethinkers group, I am shocked at the price of prescription lenses and frames . . . in fact, I'm so shocked, I just don't want to think about it anymore.

Okay, I objectively know that prescription lenses and frames can cost no less than 10K at best; but 34K to 37K for a complete set of specs is just . . . excessive―at least for me. (We're talking about ultra-thin corrective lenses, anti-glare lenses, progressives, and "doble-vistas" here, plus frames made from strong materials.) Parang luho na lang kasi 'pag gan'yan ang initial na gastos mo sa isang set, not to mention 'yung concurrent expenses mo kung sakaling masira 'yung lens or frame. I'm no authority on the cost of reading/prescription glasses, but I would just back down of what the optical shop's offering me when it reaches that price range. (Then again, I got my "basic" corrective specs for less than 1K from the aforementioned health drive.) With 37K, dagdagan ko na lang 'yun―boom, may decent gaming rig na ako na kaya ang Battlefield 3 and 4, or maybe Rainbow Six Siege, even. (Translation: With 37K, I'll just add some more cash―and boom, I now have a decent gaming rig for Battlefield 3 and 4, or maybe Rainbow Six Siege, even.)
