45: Regret

I wake up to the dreadful sound of my phone alarm going off. Today I had class from 11-3, so I had to get ready for that. I looked at the time as I clicked off my alarm and read that it was 9:30am. I stood up out of bed after going on my phone for a little. I could feel my stomach growling, since I skipped dinner last night. I decided I should probably eat some sort of breakfast, even though I usually don't. As I made my way down my hallway, to my kitchen, I chose to just eat some toast.

After I was done eating, I basically just got ready for class. It seemed like just a normal day. I made my way to campus and got there right on time. I was sitting in class, trying to comprehend what we were learning, but completely failing at it. I felt my pocket vibrate as I lifted my phone from it. I saw that Nick was calling me. I couldn't just answer it in class, so I silenced my phone and decided to just call him back later. Class went by a little slower than usual, but we were finally dismissed. I began walking to my car all the way in lower parking as I got back out my phone.

I reached my car and got in before calling him back as I began my drive home. The phone only rang for a few seconds.

"hey" i say in a cheery voice as he picks up.

"hey, whatchu doin?" he answered.

"driving home from my classes today"

"ahhh i called you in class, didn't i? i'm an ass"

"it's fine, really, but whats up?"

"i was calling to ask if we could take a rain check on our date tonight"

"uhh, sure. why?"

"cause I totally forgot about Nev's birthday thing tonight, apparently we're going to some girls house to party"

So, what i'm hearing is that he wants to cancel our date plans...to go to a girls house to party? I know I was only pointing out the parts I wanted to, but that is what he said. I didn't know how to respond. Partying over everything else for him, i guess.

"y/n? you still there?" he said.

"yeah, yeah connection must've cut out for a second."

"hey, i'm really sorry, baby. I know you wanted to go to dinner tonight."

"yeah, it's whatever, we have other nights"

"you wanna come to Nevs with me, instead?"

"yeah sure, what time?" i asked.

"i can pick you up at 7"

"perfect"

"see you then"

With that, we hung up. I took the phone away from my ear just as I walked back into my house. I walked right into the kitchen to see Nessa and Emmet cooking some sort of meal.

"hey guys" i said, popping in for a second.

"hey, y/n" emmet said, while stirring veggies in a pan.
