(Flashback)

They were on a train. Major Gilbert Bougainvillea sitting near down the foot of the train. And beside him sits his younger ally, previously named, Violet.

Gilbert wore a slightly tired face as well as grim. He, as well as Violet, didn't wear their normal military uniform, they were in formal military wear.

Violet, who was curious as ever, wanted to know why they were on train to who knows where. She wanted ask, but decided against it when she noticed her Major's face.

She didn't know much, but she noticed her chest feeling tighter when she saw his face. She didn't know, was she.....scared? This feeling isn't the same as when she felt it before. This was something new, but she didn't like it.

Violet stayed quiet the rest of the ride and obediently followed Gilbert. They walked, then Gilbert stopped in front of a gate. He looked up then slowly looking down to his normal range of eye sight. He sighed, removing his cap before entering.

The land they walked on was of walkway and few soil. Then, they reached a group of people, say a dozen load of people. Gilbert approached one of those people in uniform, shaking each others hands and tapping each other shoulders.

Violet noticed that 6 of which of those people are wearing formal military uniform, and that 6 of the others weren't, instead they wore the same grim face as Gilbert when they were in the train.

Gilbert took Violet and himself aside to the people with no uniform and were wearing dark clothing, mostly black.

"We are here today to admire one man's work. This man, husband, father, and soldier, Abraham Weissman. He, who died while in service deserved-" the man infront continued talking.

Violet somehow understood, was this a memorial? She took it upon herself to be extra attentive and careful, she just felt like it. When she heard the story of the man who had passed, she felt heavy, like her soul was hurting, and her eyes were watering, though whatever that was, she held it in.

She didn't even know who this person was, why does she felt like this.

Then, she heard the family's story- "My father, wasn't the best. He made mistakes, he had flaws, and sure he'll admit that himself. When we had to make ends meet, he did his best, recruiting himself in the military, he needed that. He worked hard, and sent us letters every now and then. He would forget to wrote sometimes, but that was fine. He took care of us, raised us, sheltered us, and loved us, even when he was far away. And we were very thankful for that. When we heard he had passed away, we couldn't accept it, we had just received a letter he was coming home. We were so suprised. I just- thank you to the soldiers who helped my father and went here just to honor him." That was the son.

A week later, when Violet felt Gilbert's face to return to his neutral face, she wanted to ask.

"Major."

"Hmm? Yes, Violet?" Gilbert looked at her.

"I want to ask something if that is alright." Violet said, looking back at him.

Gilbert nodded.

"Are you....what are you?"

The question startled Gilbert. "What?"

"Let me rephase that sir, who are you? To me that is." Violet asked with a still stoic face.

"Mm," Gilbert thought, 'Who am...I?' "well, who do you think?"

"I...don't know sir." Violet answered.

"Okay, then, I am whoever you want me to be or you think I am." Gilbert answered.

Violet tilted her head in confusion.

"Maybe you'll be able to answer that for yourself, in the future." Gilbert replied, smiling at Violet's sudden question.

Violet nodded, she felt good seeing just Gilbert's smile.

'Who is Major Gilbert...to me?'
