2 months later...
Edward Jones still wasn't found, they found a couple of his underlings, but they didn't want to talk and opted rather kill themselves. Of course, they didn't want that, so they just left them in their cell. It seemed Jones' underlings were pretty scared of him.
After James' death, Violet was conflicted, she was sad, scared, as well as angry. Why would Jones come after James? She already knew it was Jones. Who else is familiar with the initials of E. and J? She is still figuring this out, on how to find Jones, but Gilbert told her to not overwork herself. She is pregnant, she mustn't forget that when she acts.
Hodgins gave Violet a leave for however long, not just for her pregnancy, but also for her safety. Hodgins also instructed Violet to get a bodyguard, and so they got one, Emma. She did offer to.
Emma would guard the house with Violet when Gilbert is working. It wasn't really guarding, as it was more of accompanying incase something happens.
As for Jewel, the whole week after James' funeral, she was in her room. Then, she opened up a bit more, Violet tried to comfort her, but that didn't exactly end well. Violet ended up crying next to Jewel, even though she told herself to hold it back.
The month later, she tried coping, the twins actually helped her a lot, distracting her by some jokes here and there, and eventually, she returned to normal, except when someone or something reminded ger of him. She'd get emotional on occasion, but that decreased when comforted her.
"I'm back."
It was quiet, until Emma walked to him.
"Oh, you're back." Emma said, "Violet's upstairs, she was reading a book or something."
"Okay, thanks. Here," he gave Emma some cash, "that's for dinner. Have a goodnight."
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow." Emma replied, walking out the door.
Gilbert nodded, before removing his shoes, and heading upstairs.
He creaked open their bedroom, peaking where Violet is. She is sitting on the bed, thinking about something, her eyes closed.
"Violet?"
Her eyes snapped open. "Hmm?" She saw Gilbert, she smiled. "You're back."
Gilbert simply nodded and changed his clothes before collapsing on the bed. He groaned softly.
"Tough day at work?"
"No. They told me to take it easy, and took me off the Jones case, said I was too involved with the person." Gilbert said, kind of annoyed that they didn't give him information about Jones' whereabouts.
"Did you eat already?" He asked.
"Yes." Violet replied.
"Yeah, so did I." Gilbert said, sitting up, looking at Violet. "Hey."
"Mmm?" Violet looked at Gilbert.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked.
Violet just looked back at the wall.
Gilbert didn't mind it, and just looked at the window.
The wind was whistling, the night was dim with the moon shining. Some stars decided to come out, and the neighbourhood was quiet.
"If..."
Gilbert looked back at Violet.
"If Jones were to be captured. Will we ever have a safe life? " Violet wondered.
"Well, wouldn't people be tired of looking for you if he has no money source anymore?" Gilbert wondered as well.
"Well, Jones had a heavy lust for killing, he doesn't do this for money. He enjoys the hunt, like what he did with James. He did that to show me, he isn't just running around...maybe people might be like him...." Violet said grimly.
Gilbert had his eyebrows furrowed, he didn't really know what to say next.
"Well..." Gilbert started.
Violet looked at him with anticipation.
"...when were we ever safe? You wouldn't know if a train can crush you, or something fall on you. We have the same fate as other people. The only difference is that we had much different pasts, all we can do about it, is prevent it, and if we can't do that we can face it, and if all ends bad." He held Violet's hand.
"...Then, at least we don't regret what we did. All we have to do is stay calm and collected, we have two more minds than him, and he is only human, to which has many flaws, surely in one way or another he'll fail. What I'm saying is, if we loose hope, he overthrow us, and we'll regret not fighting back 'til the end of our lives. So we'll keep standing. Right?" Gilbert smiled at her.
Violet looked at Gilbert, softly smiling back.
"Anyway..." Gilbert said, ", how are you feeling lately? Is the pregnancy giving you a hard time?"
Violet thought, then held his hand, and laid it on her stomach.
"Other than the unusual cravings for food. This happened after a short while...."
Gilbert smiled, caressing her growing stomach. "It grew...the little guy grew."
Violet chuckled, "Little guy?"
"Sorry, I got it from Lucas, he kept on calling the baby, 'little guy'." Gilbert said.
"You told Lucas and others now?" Violet asked.
"Yeah, Lucas and Liam thinks it'll be a boy, Lt. Colonel Keelan and the others think, it'll be a girl. I think they secretly betted on it." Gilbert explained. "What do you think it'll be?"
"Mm, Cattleya and Mr. Hodgins wants it to be a boy, because they want a boy to play with their own. But I think a girl would be cute." Violet commented. "How about you?"
"Mm, I think it'll be a boy." Gilbert answered.
"What makes you think so?" Violet asked, curious.
"Well, my family had a long line of sons, my father had a elder sister, but of course he was heir. But I think it'll be a boy regardless of that. It's a gut feeling." Gilbert replied.
Gilbert looked at Violet. "Are you crying? Why are you crying?" He was worried.
"No, it's nothing. I'm just happy....thank you." Violet said.
Gilbert smiled, he sighed. He wiped her tears with his thumb, and said, "We should sleep now, tomorrow is my off, we can just stay home."
"Mm."
They dimmed the lights and covered each other with the blanket.
Gilbert kissed her forehead and laid his hand on her small baby bump.
Violet softly smiled.
"Goodnight, Violet."
"Goodnight."
Place your bets here! Will it be a boy? Or a girl? You shall see in a couple more chapters to go. Be patient.
