"So..." Said Colin, walking silently behind Gilbert. She felt the need to remove the confusing tension in the air by saying something, she didn't know what though.
"Umm, what was that about?" Curious, Colin peaks at Gilbert's face.
Gilbert looked distracted, but Colin didn't see it as a bad thing and continued to talk.
"When we walked out the office, you look like they gave you some bad news..." Colin kept on talking. "Was it bad news?"
Gilbert halted, having the last sentence of what Colin said unto him processing in his mind.
"Is it bad news..." He muttered, turning around, now facing Colin but not looking directly anywhere. "No, it wasn't bad news, wasn't it. I don't think it is even considered to be called news."
He looked at Colin, "It isn't bad news, it isn't news at all." He then sharply turned around and started walking.
Colin was a bit startled. 'Is he going crazy? Did...I just break a person?' she thought following Gilbert.
"He...asked me favor...." He yet again muttered, but the rest of the words he spoke were inaudible, and his thoughts on the favor was kept in his head.
Even with the two both distracted with their own line of thoughts, they arrived to the place where they left a few hours ago, with not much effort.
Gilbert opened his house door and removed his cap as he went inside. Distracted as he closed the door, he didn't notice the small crowd that was slowly walking toward him.
As he went and looked up-
"Surprise Happy 30th Birthday Sergeant/ Mr./ Gilbert!"
Said by a few lot of people. There was Emma, Dietfried, Lucas, Liam, Hodgins, Cattleya, and of course, Violet.
The expression on Gilbert's face was...
different from what you'd expect.
He was indifferent, distracted, confused-like what I explained, different.
He slipped off his boots, put them to the side, and he slightly bowed, going to the side and heading upstairs without a word.
As he walked up the stairs, the people who 'surprised' him had all their eyes following him, and when he was out of sight, they slowly had their eyes on the person in front of them...Colin.
'Who's she?'
'Where's she from?’
'Why is she with Gilbert?'
'Isn't the Bougainvillea couple keeping a low profile?'
Colin didn't know what to do, she bit her lip and decided to make a good decision.
"Uhhh-I uhhh.....am...going to stand in the corner there." Colin said, as she stumbled, almost fell, towards a corner, but quickly headed back to removed her shoes then went back to the corner again, with her head down.
After a few seconds of them staring at her, Violet handed the cake she was holding to Hodgins.
"Excuse me, can you sit still for a while? I'll head upstairs. I'm sorry." Violet said as she went upstairs.
The guests nodded their heads. Now they were playing either one of two questions in their heads.
'Who is the woman, and why did Gilbert react the way he did?'
Except one of the guests decided not to question it and finds a place to sit and wait. A while later, the others sat down as well.
Meanwhile, Violet headed upstairs.
