Gilbert woke up early, he couldn't sleep properly again, it was the 3rd time this week. The nightmares came back, but he knew how to discard them, none the less, he couldn't sleep because of it.

When he stood up from his bed, he decided to go downstairs and cook some breakfast for Violet and the guest before he heads to work.

As he stops at the bottom of the stairs, he walked over to the door to check for mail.

He received mail, it was a letter from the Department of Administration and Services for the States Officers of Leidenshaftlich. It had said that it was urgent, so he quickly headed upstairs and opened the letter in his study.

It read,

”To a Sergeant Gilbert Bougainvillea,

We request your arrival tomorrow afternoon at 2 am sharp on March 18, XXXX, for a brief meeting.

We sincerely apologize for the abruptness of our request, but we will surely appreciate your appearance.

Sincerely,

Department of Administration and Services for the States Officers of Leidenshaftlich

1406 XXXX/XXXX Street, Leidenshaftlich”

Gilbert sighed, but at least it was still early in the morning and he had time to get ready. He quietly wondered why the Administration office wants him to meet them.

He closed his study room then walked in their bedroom, he opened his closet to look for his formal officer uniform then laid it out on the empty space of the bed.

He walked around the other side of the bed, then gently woke Violet up.

"Violet, I have to go to work extra early."

Violet opened her eyes, blinking a couple times before she pushed herself to sit up.

"Why, did something happen?" Violet said, wiping away the morning blurriness she had with her cold hands-nothing to do with the weather outside though.

"No, nothing really happened. The office of Administration is asking for me." Gilbert said. "The meeting will not be until 2 in the afternoon, but I'll take our guest with me to search for a place for her to stay."

"Okay, I'll make some breakfast." Violet stood up, making the bed in the process.

"Okay then, I'll help you." Gilbert said, fixing the bed as well.

Finishing to make the bed, Gilbert and Violet headed for the door.

"Why will you help me with making breakfast?" Violet asked as she and Gilbert walked down the stairs.

"Are you not still recovering from your injuries?" Gilbert replied, holding Violet's hand down the stairs.

"They are barely to even be called 'injuries'." Violet backing up her mind but not refusing Gilbert's hand.

"Then is there a problem with helping my pregnant wife, whom may I add in my defense, has cuts on her feet?" Gilbert stated, all the while still holding her hand.

Violet sighed, and nodded, she knew she was just being stubborn anyway.

As they reached the bottom of the stairs, Gilbert let go of Violet's hand and walked beside her instead, going to the kitchen area of the room.

Then, Gilbert suddenly stopped. And a few split seconds later, Violet noticed.

"Is something wrong?" Violet asked.

Gilbert seemed to be thinking of something, then he faced Violet with a sincere questioning face.

Then he spoke with a soft, curious voice, something Violet have never heard before, yet...it wasn't bad.

"Violet." He called out.

Violet, who was curious of Gilberts current thought process, answered innocently.

"Yes?"

Gilbert slightly tilted his head and meekly leaned on the near counter, and asked with the same tone as before.

"Did you ever imagined me as your father?"
