(Flashback)
"Umm, Come in." said Gilbert, as if though he hasn't slept a decade. 'Violet's looks so...'
Violet snapped out of her thoughts and awkwardly stepped in the house. As he closed the door and gestured Violet to follow, he said "Let's talk upstairs." They headed up the stairs and opened a door, showing a simple bed and a desk with a chair.
The man sat down and Violet followed. Seconds passed and either person questioning themselves whether or not they should say something."I-" both said but none finishing, both their faces were blushed.
'-different. I don't know what to say...I-' The man decided to start. 'Gosh, I can hear my heart...'
"V-violet, look, umm I'm...sorry." he said hesitating, looking down. 'God...how can you forgive me? How can SHE forgive me? I gave her a life of hell....'
Violet let the information sit in. Thinking back, there was no reason for him to be sorry.
All said was, "Why?" Why was the start of multiple questions. This made Gilbert flinch.
'Why what?' Gilbert thought, just focusing on now.
'Why are you sorry? Why did you ask for me when there are others waiting for you? Why...did you leave me?' She thought, tearing up.
'I...never meant to leave you, you just...I...you're never supposed to see me again...I was supposed to die and then you'd be happy, then a kind man helped me and I unintentionally hurt you by doing that. I was selfish.' Gilbert thought somberly.
As he was about to answer, he was cut off by Violet, hugging him. Gilbert was suprised, then he relaxed into the hug slowly.
'Nevertheless, I miss her, so, so much. And seeing her makes my heart beat so fast, I'm flushed.' Gilbert thought, laying his head comfortably on her shoulder. He wonders why he makes him feel warm inside.
She hugged him, as tightly as she could, as if he would leave...again.
'God, I'm so, so, sorry, but this is Violet we're talking about, how can I not be selfish OR selfless. It's just so hard, she's changed so much...'
'For now, the questions can wait.' Violet thought.
"Thank you, Gilbert."
'No, thank you...Violet.'
