Thus said, "I do not mean to say that our liberty will be secured at swords point, for swords play but little part in modern affairs, but that we must secure it by making ourselves worthy of it, by exalting inteligence and the dignity of the individual, by loving justice, right and greatness, even to the extent of dying for them- and when a person reaches that height, God himself will provide a weapon, the idols will be shattered, tyranny will crumble like a house of cards, and liberty will shine out like the first dawn."
Gilbert felt lost, he can't think straight, he couldn't make a plan against these people who threaten the love of his life, he....
"Gilbert?"
Gilbert snapped out of his thoughts, and looked up at Violet.
"Are you okay? You look a little pale." Violet said with concern.
'God, she looks so...heavenly.'
"Gilbert?" Violet asked, yet again.
"Sorry." Gilbert said, looking down slightly.
Violet's eyebrows raised slightly with her a small smile. "Again with the sorry..." She said, walking around the bed and sitting down next to him. "Tell me?"
Gilbert looked at her eyes, he saw worry. He didn't want that. He did vow his life with her, he vowed to share everything with her. Okay. Let's share.
Without a word, Gilbert stood up and reached for the tape, he put it inside the recorder and played it. Then he sat back down, observing Violet's reaction.
"Awake now, I see? Now, tell me where the precious Evergarden money are."
"Never!"
(A biting sound was heard.)
"Ugh, you bitch!"
(A loud kick was heard.)
"Okay then, I'll just have your petty 'boyfriend' tell me. For now, just be a good girl and wait."
(A loud shut from a door was heard.)
"You hearing this Bougainvillea? Let your lil' wife hear this too. Does she remember me? Get ready, I have a whole squad of rascals ready to play with dolls. Let's see what you're gonna do about it. When you listen to this, our plans are already into play. Be careful Mr. Soldier."
......Beeeep......
Violet froze from beginning to end. From Gilbert's view, Violet's face was calculating. She was thinking, re-thinking, and then finally, spoke.
"He's out there? The...he..." Violet said, mumbling. "It couldn't be...no, why now? Why after all this time, he's still after us?" Her voice broke, still not believing it.
Both sat in silence, dissolved in their own thoughts.
Gilbert unconsciously layed his hand over Violet's. Violet looked at their hands briefly, then smiled a little, gripping his hand tightly.
"Let's go." Said Gilbert, standing up.
Without hesitation, Violet stood up as well, replying; "Yeah."
Then from there, they went to the person the both trusted.
