I woke up during the night, being unable to breath. I felt absolutely freezing yet hot at the same time. I stood up, careful not to wake Felicity, Damian, Blake or James as I made my way into the kitchen.
I draped a blanket over my shoulders as I walked into the kitchen. I looked through the pantry until I found Honey and a lemon. I turned the kettle on and started to make myself a honey and lemon drink seeing as my throat hurt too.
As I took a sip, I sat down at the dining table. I let the heat of the drink fan over my face, I sniffled as I tried to breath. I will bet you, my hair is probably a mess, my nose will be pink and over all I will look like shit.
"Cooper?" I turned around to see Felicity, her eyes droopy with sleep as her form was hunched. "Hey princess." I said, my voice sounding completely different... sexier... I hope.
"What happened to your voice? Are you okay?" Felicity asked in a worried voice, she rushed over to me. She held my head in her hands as she moved it back and forth, inspecting my face as though looking for something. "Are you cold?"
"I'm fucking freezing." I said as I pulled the blanket closer to me, Felicity placed her hand on my forehead, pulling it back almost immediately. "Cooper your burning!" Felicity said, her worried look growing. "Felicity I'm fine, I promise. I made myself a drink for my throat, I'll be fine-"
"Why are you two arguing?" Blake asked, making us turn our attention to everyone standing im the kitchen. "Well, Cooper is sick-"
"I'm perfectly fine Felicity-"
"Cooper, don't argue with me, go lie back down." Felicity said in a way that left no room for argument. I stared at her for a second, she just stared back at me with a look in her eye that said "move now or I'll drag you over there." I quickly got from my seat, making my way back over to the living room and sitting on the recliner that was next to the fire.
Damian and my stepbrothers walked in, laughing as they saw my paled face. "She can't be that scary right?" Blake asked, I just shook my head at him. "I swear to god I saw fucking lost souls swimming in her eyes..." That caused them all to laugh more.
"Boys, go get ready for school!" Harrison shouted, causing my stepbrothers smiles to fall, now it was my turn to laugh. "What about Cooper? He just gets to lounge around all day!" Blake asked with a huff, mom and Felicity walked in, my smile dropped as I saw the cough medicine. "Why do you hate me so much?" I asked, looking mom and Felicity in the eyes.
"We don't hate you, I just don't like it when you're sick." Mom said. "Oh and, Cooper has to take this disgusting medicine, Felicity and Damian will be looking after him today since you four have to go to school and Harrison and I have to go to work." Mom said, the boys huffed but agreed.
Mom walked over, I held my mouth shut, refusing to take the medicine. "Cooper Finn Hartley." Mom said sternly, I just shook my head. Felicity came over and sat in my lap, my eyes widened a bit as I stared at her.
She poked her finger into my side, attempting to make me laugh. I shook my head as she tried again. Instead, she lifted her hand up, brushing her fingers through my hair. I narrowed my eyes at her suspiciously, she just sent me a smile.
Next thing I know, my hair is pulled back, causing me to let out a yelp. Mom put the spoon in my mouth, forcing the medicine down my throat. I gagged, hating the taste of it. Mom just smirked before going back into the kitchen. I turned to Felicity with a pout, she just smiled innocently as she ran her fingers through my hair. "You pulled my hair..."
"And now you've had your medicine. That's what matters."
"I trusted you..." I said, pouting out my bottom lip like a child, Felicity just giggled as she pulled me into a hug, I rested my ear over Felicity's heart, listening to her soft heart beat. "Bye Cooper, I'll see you when I get home okay?" Mom said, I nodded my head. "Okay, bye mom."
~~
I heard a front door open, but I didn't want to move. Felicity and I were lying on the recliner, I had my head on her chest and my arms around her waist. I could feel her playing with my hair, somehow it kept me calm. "Hey Felicity, Damian, how's Cooper?" I heard James ask, what is he doing home? Has school ended already? "He's alright, he's been asleep for about five hours, he still feels really hot but he kept saying he was cold." Felicity said, I heard Damian let out a cough before he spoke.
"You forgot to mention that he's been cuddled to you all day as though you're his life support." I could practically hear the smirk in Damian's voice, but, I decided to play along. "Because she is my life support." I muttered as I opened my eyes. Damian and James were sitting on the couch, James was typing something on his phone while Damian was smirking at me.
I sat up slightly so I could look at Damian and James, James looked over at me with a smile, I smiled back. "What time is it?"
"3:36." James said, I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "They have baseball training today, I don't play baseball." I nodded my head, making an 'o' shape with my mouth. James turned back to his phone, he typed something before putting it aside. "So, this weekend is Blake's birthday. He's going to be having a party which means Zeke will be here..." He said slowly and hesitantly, as though he was expecting me to blow up at the mention of his name.
I sat up a bit more, looking James straight in the eyes. "You don't like Zeke... do you?" I asked, James just shook his head. "I never trusted him, he always seemed like a jerk from the start, I could see the fake personality whenever he was here... just like mom used to do." James said, his face dropping slightly at the mention of his mom.
I stood up and walked over to him, sighting beside him as I looked down at my hands. "There's something I want to tell you..."
