"It's getting harder each day, so much harder. It drains me to have to constantly put up a mask, hiding how I really feel behind a smile that isn't even true. I don't think I'll ever find that easy, because it's not. The easy part for me is lying, i...
"Cooper!! Wake up dude! Gotta get ready for school!!" Levi shouted, I groaned as I got out of bed, making my way to the bathroom.
I had a long, warm shower, washing away the filth that covered my body. Once I got out, I got dressed into a long sleeved blue top, a black Metallica shirt on top. I put on some blue ripped jeans and wrapped a grey Shinedown hoodie around my waist. I messed around with my hair, letting it flop down over my eyes. I could. still see... but man... I really need a haircut!
I made my way downstairs, Levi was cooking some breakfast. Lilli was eating that breakfast while sitting on her phone. I sat down beside her, taking the other plate.
"Morning squirt." Levi said, I smiled back at him, since my mouth was full. "Morning Blue!"
"Morning Red, Morning Levi." I finally responded. We continued to eat breakfast, once we were done, Levi handed me a bag. "That has all the things you'll need for school okay? Stick with Lilli, please don't get into any trouble on the first day..." Levi said, I just nodded my head with a chuckle. "I won't."
Lilli and I made our way to her car, it wasn't flash but it wasn't bad either. A BMW M3, Yes, I know my cars. We got in, Lilli played her trash music, causing me to groan. "Oh come on! It isn't that bad!!"
"This is absolute bullshit!! God! Listen to some real music!!" I argued back, but a smile was on my face. Shortly after, we arrived at the school. Lilli parked in one of the spots, it gave a full view of the school.
I felt my heart skip a beat, my hands clamping onto my jeans as I looked at the building, I couldn't help but be scared. "I-I'm nervous..."
"It's okay to be nervous Blue, but I'm here, you don't need to worry okay? I promise you, most of these people are nice, those who aren't don't even talk to anyone anyway." Lilli said, climbing out of the car. I followed after her, slinging my bag over my shoulder.
We walked into the school, I tried my best to ignore the comments and the stares, nothing bad, just curiosity. Lilli lead me to the front office, an older woman was sitting there. "Hey Miss Grenfield, this is my cousin Cooper Bryan. Could we please have his schedule and locked number?" The woman nodded, typing away on her computer before printing something off.
She handed me two small sheets, one had a locker number and combination, the other was my schedule. Lilli had a look at my schedule, a small smile growing over her face. "Looks like Mr smarty-pants is in my history, English and maths class!"
"But I'm shit at maths..." I mumbled, Lilli shrugged. "Apparently not!"
"Wait... what do I have first?"
"Uh... art! You'll have Mr Fitz, he's pretty nice, he's old but he's not harsh like some of the others."
"Eh, no one is as good as Miss Nelson, she's a great teacher." I said with a smile, I'd miss her positivity, I might send her a few drawings while I'm here...
"Right then, I'll show you to class, then I have to go. I'll meet you here so we can go to English okay?" I nodded my head, we came to the art room. I could already see everyone in there, I guess I'm late...
Lilli opened the door for me, she sort of shoved me inside before walking in herself. "Hi Mr Fitz, sorry he's late but it's his first day." Lilli said, Mr Fitz nodded. "Could you come up to the front of the class please?"
"I'd rather–" I was cut off as Lilli shoved me further into the classroom, and towards the front. I looked over my shoulder, sending her a glare. She just grinned evilly before leaving.
I rolled my eyes as I made my way up to the front of the class, standing beside Mr Fitz. "So... would you like to tell the class a little bit about yourself?"
"Uh... My name is Cooper, I'm 17, I've come here from California for about nine months... I don't know what else there is to say..."
"What brought you here to Florida?" The teacher asked, I thought about it for a second. "Medical reasons? I don't know how you'd put it... I was basically told by a doctor to have a vacation. So I came here with my cousins and I'll be going back in about nine months." I said, one of the students raised his hand, I assume a question. "Yeah?"
"What's California like? I mean... I've heard it's pretty nice but if you need a vacation from it...?" I chuckled slightly at that. "Well... from my experience, it's not the best place, it has a lot of bad memories for me. But, a lot of other people really like the beaches there? I don't know... I just know that after living there for your whole life it gets a bit boring." I said, a few more questions and Mr Fitz finally let me go sit down.
I ended up sitting next to a girl, I'm not sure what her name was, but then again, I didn't pay attention. I ended up just doodling, and that doodle became the drawing of my drow from Never Winter.

"Dude! Is that a drow?!" A dude behind me asked, I turned around, lifting up the page. "Uh... yeah."
"From Never Winter?" I felt my eyes widen slightly. "Do you guys play?" I asked, a small smile crawling over my face. They both nodded, only causing my grin to widen. "Dimitri." The first one introduced, when the second didn't say anything, Dimitri elbowed him. "Adrian."
"It's nice to meet you both, it's not everyday I find someone who actually likes the same things I do." They both smiled at that, "Hey, do you want to sit with us at lunch?"
"Could I?"
"Of course man! We'd love to have you sit with us!" Adrian said more excitedly. So for the rest of Art, we talked about gaming, D&D, music, whatever there was to talk about.
And just by how welcoming they were, how easily they started a conversation, I could tell...
