after sue sylvester finally defeated the glee club the five sophomores: kitty wilde, jake puckerman, marley rose, ryder lynn and unique adams, were separated. they were sent to different schools throughout the district purely because sue sylvester wanted to be evil. the five never saw their friends again, only kept in touch with each other but despite their efforts never saw all of their new direction friends again. kitty stayed at mckinley and because sue's head bitch again. ryder saw jake and cass sometimes but it was never the same as it was when they were at mckinley. jake puckerman never saw marley rose again, both wondering what could have happened if they had just been honest with each other. unique stayed in touch in mr. schue, cass and mercedes but things were different when her parents allowed her to transition. sue later changes her mind and allows rachel berry and kurt hummel, who have returned from new york city on the tailspin of rachel's failed tv program, to reboot the glee club at mckinley high school with the driving purpose to have them win one more nationals championship.
rachel berry, after leaving broadway for a potential tv program about her life, returned to lima knowing that she had ruined her chances of ever being on broadway again. so she took ahold of the new directions and poured herself into it, with the help of kurt and the eventual return of william schuester. but, to her surprise, she was offered an audition for another broadway show and was given the role. in the years to come, she rekindled her relationship with jesse st. james, who she came to marry, and even won a tony award before she was 25.
after the class of 2013's graduation santana lopez and brittany s. pierce ran away together, travelling the world and enjoying their rekindled love that time and distance took from them. santana dropped out of the production of funny girl to do so, finding that brittany was more important to her than torturing rachel berry.

sometime between graduation and kurt's return to lima, ohio, kurt hummel and blaine anderson broke off their engagement. blaine also returned home to coach a glee club, after dropping out of nyada, he came back and began coaching the dalton academy warblers. well, somewhere along the way he and david karofsky began a romance that ended with blaine realizing that kurt was his soulmate, something that everyone already knew. at the brittana wedding, brittany and santana shanghai'd the lovers and klaine also got married.
