Chapter 51: Serendipity
Adeline

"So when you have lunch, I expect you to find Easton and talk to him."

"Why can't he find me? I'm not Search and Rescue."

"Addy," Kaleb warns, stopping in front of the classroom door. "Just do it."

"Nike!" I giggle, walking into the classroom.

Brianna's eyes follow me as I walk into the room, a scowl appearing on her face.

Sitting at my desk, I hear Brianna talk to her friends, not bothering to whisper.

"She's been trying to steal my man, but he's always mine." She states, laughing evilly. "Yes, my other bae is fine with it. He doesn't know!"

So she cheated on Easton and is cheating on the side guy too? Interesting.

"Where is he?"

"I don't have time for this."

"Give me-" I mutter under my breath, walking down the hall. "Oh there he is."

Breathing heavily, I walk towards him, thinking he's alone.

I climbed up to the sixth floor for this guy, I must like him for real.

Easton was talking quietly to himself and I prepare to stand in front of him before stopping myself, seeing a hand touch his arm.

"You don't have feelings for her, do you?"

The person trails her hand up to grip his shoulder before turning around with him, Brianna's back facing me.

"And you better not say what I don't want to hear. I'll ruin her."

"Don't worry, Brianna. Adeline is just a bitch I play with. I hate her." He inhales sharply, his voice changing octaves. "Now let go."

His voice gets higher when he lies. But right now I can't tell if he is.

"Oh?" I mutter, backing away from them.

Easton shrugs Brianna's hand away before turning to face me, his tan skin going pale.

"My work is done." Brianna laughs, leaning back against the wall.

"Adeline, just listen to me."

"Why?"

"Please." Easton begs, stepping closer to me.

I shake my head and walk away from them, turning to the staircase.

I run down the stairs quickly to get away from him, hearing him follow behind me.

Finally reaching the first floor, I walk in a random direction, still trying to get away.

"Why won't you leave me alone!?" I groan, spinning around to face him.

"Talk to me!"

"I was going to but not anymore. Because I'm such a b-i-t-c-h." I spell it out, throwing my arms up in the air. "I thought you were changing."

"You haven't talked to me in two weeks, birdie. Please!"

"I'm out!" I hold up the peace sign, walking backwards before turning around.

Easton grabs my arm and pulls me back to him, making me stumble.

"Let me go, Easton."

"Why won't you let me in?" He yells back to me, tighten his hold on my arms.
