To all the hashira's it was no secret that you were very shy. So whenever they approached you, they suited themselves so they don't get you too embarrassed. Especially Kyojuro. He tried his best to not scare the shit out of you with his booming voice. In a way he did master it. The only ones that didn't suited themselves were Sanemi and Genya somehow. You liked him actually dearly and it was a big fat crush...
You wanted to confess your love to him, but you were too shy to approach him. His scary appearance made you back away immediately, but still you fell for him.

Today was no different. A day were you again fail to confess. It made you feel like the greatest fool all time. „(Y/N)-chan!! Don't let yourself down with this kind of thoughts! I know he will accept you..faith chose the both of you!!". You blushed so much at Mitsuri's encouragement. It was very nice of her to actually help you with that but she embarrassed you too often. Even Genya heard one conversation and he kind of grew curious about which guy you wanted to confess. First he just shrugged it off.

Attempt Nr. 1:
You walked to the training area where he mostly was. He trained and trained. Watching him, he stopped training and glanced a bit over seeing you. „What do you want brat?". His harsh voice made you jump back and apologize too often. 'Holy shoot!! I messed up!!'

Attempt Nr. 2:
Genya was sitting on a stone near a little pond. He enjoyed his sweet meal and actually relaxed. „U-uh..S-shinazugawa-san...I-I..-", „Spit it already!". 'Oh god..again..'
„I-I'm so s-sorry for i-interrupting..".
And with that you walked away.

So did follow many more failed attempts at confessing to one only boy. But it was always his harsh tone irritating you and make you feel all fuzzy and scared. Mitsuri kept on encouraging you and not stopping from confessing to him, cause there will be a chance you'd make it.
You wandered around the headquarters, thinking about the love hashira's words and trying to see what you did wrong. Not long after you reached your destination, a little hill that had a beautiful wisteria tree. Sitting down, feeling the relaxing breeze of the wind and birds chirping. „How am I going to tell Genya how I feel about him? Ugh...I hate myself and anxiety!". You hit the ground with your fist, tears escaping your eyes.
But what you didn't notice was, that Genya overhead your little conversation, feeling guilty to act like that to you.

But he left, feeling to embarrassed to face you like that. After all he did treat you harsh and rude, making you sad and not able to speak out your feelings.

{time skip a week later}

After the incident, Genya could not stop thinking about the words you said. And they were meant for him. How could he be so mean even though you tried to be nice and polite to him?
'C-crap?! What do I do now?? I-I guess a-apologize? It's a must Genya, you can face her!'
Genya stomped off, searching for a certain (h/c) haired girl with beautiful (e/c) orbs. He searched for a good half day and no sign of you.
Then an idea popped in his mind: 'She's might be by the wisteria tree..'
As Genya went to the location his hopes to find you were better, but his nervousness got the best of him.
And there you were, sitting under the tree reading a book peacefully by yourself. Heat rises up his cheeks as he admires you. Gaining all confidence, he marched up to you.

„(Y/N)-chan..I-I came h-here to you know..a-apologize". His blush got worse, making you worry. „F-for what?". Now it was his time to be confused. „T-that I was rude a-and harsh..even t-though you were n-nice and s-sweet..". And that's when your cheeks heated up from embarrassment.
'He called me..sweet?!'
„I-It's okay...". He stopped sweating as he heard you only whisper the last part. „ILIKEYOUTOO!!". He shouted and hid his blushing face with his arms. „A-ah?! Y-you mean it?". He nodded, still not wanting to take his hands down. „I-I like you t-too Genya". He peeked a little and saw your small smile, his heart got the weight of him and he sighed in relief.
He sat beside you and watched the sunset, enjoying the sweet moment you two shared.

Maybe it was really worth with all those attempts and encouragement. Or he was just too oblivious. Nonetheless your shyness was the thing he adored, especially since he shared it too.

...It all was worth it so much...
