Breathing heavily, you ran and ran through the dark forest. The stormy weather was preventing you from seeing the path clearly. Inhaling deeply, you screamed at the top of your lungs and hoped for anybody or just someone to hear your pleading for help. Your blood rushed like it never did before, heart pounding like it could just directly jump out of your chest and your soft expression was drawn over with one of fear and pain. Growing in the distance signaled you that the hungry demon still was running behind you, his prey. Holding onto your bloodied side tighter, you hoped that maybe..just maybe a miracle could happen, but luck wasn't your best friend this time. Instead your bare, muddy and cold feet fell over a stone and eventually they gave in, too weak to stand up again and to flee away from the man-eating monster. Shakily and full of sweat, you embraced yourself for the terrible fate to happen. And soon enough the demon arrived and jumped onto you; „Ahhh-" ———— „Ahhh!!!". On itself, your fragile and tired body jolted up from the terrible dream you've been stuck. 'It..it w-was..just a-a dream...'; A rough yet soft hand softly stroked your thigh; „(Y/N)...?". Kaburamaru woke up the second after the scream and slithered on your lap, his red eyes scanning you gently. Obanai's eyes watched you breathing heavily and murmur something he couldn't figure out. „Was the dream that bad?". His hoarse and sleepy voice asked you. He tried to sound soft but he felt he needed to do it better and that you wouldn't push him away. Turning your head towards him, your before quiet whimpers became loud sobs. Without a plan, you leaped into his arms, crying now really badly. Even if you didn't saw it, his face held a shock expression, his arms hesitantly hugging you back. It didn't took Obanai long to melt into the hug and so he found himself comforting you like he never actually did. „It's okay...shh..I am here and nobody..will ever touch you...". Kaburamaru slithered around your neck and tried to make you happy again by nuzzling his small head against your soft skin.
And it did help you a lot. The crying disappeared slowly and the tiredness overtook you again. „You..*hiccup* w-will you..b-be always..*hiccup* by my s-side..?". Obanai's different colored eyes softened as he pulled you away to look at him. As you were seated in front of him, he wiped your tears with his long pajama sleeves before he spoke up; „Don't ever think I'll leave you alone..never will I let those filthy beings kill you...I love you to much to lose you. I'd rather die than you". The male averted his gaze somewhere else. He felt embarrassed as his cheeks burned up to what he had actually said to you. But little did he know this meant a lot to you. There was no way you'd feel scared now after his confession. „No it's alright Iguro...it did made me feel a lot better now. As long as your by my side...I'll feel safe and protected". As the words left your lips, he smiled underneath his mask, feeling now confident in what he said to you before. His fingers pulled your hair strands behind your ear gently as Kaburamaru slithered over to his owner. „Let's go back to sleep dear. It's all okay now and that I promise you".
„With me, you'll be safe and that is it. I'll protect you at all costs (Y/N)...I love you".
„Thank you Iguro...and know that I love you more than anything. Good night".
„..Good night (Y/N).."
