Tanjiro wandered around with his two friends, Zenitsu and Inosuke and of course his sister Nezuko in the box. They all headed back to the headquarters after finishing a small mission in the nearby town. But even though Tanjiro was tired, he excused himself and wanted to meet a certain girl. You were Obanai's tsuguko, yet many wondered why you weren't actually by Giyu's side. Only few knew why and that made it self explanatory. Tanjiro approach you anxiously but excited too in a way. He always wanted to see someone amazing and beautiful smiling brightly, yet you didn't show any emotion. It made him sad because the first time he met you, there was such a sad scent that lingered around you. But it seemed you've forgot about it and don't mention it anyways.
'I always wonder what the story behind your sorrowful eyes and scent is..if I only could make you smile, freeing you from that horrible past of yours...'
As Tanjiro came nearer a groan made his attention turn away from you. Jumping back a little of the sudden appearance of the serpent hashira. „What are you doing here? I think you must know that without my permission you shouldn't enter my ground". The boy bowed, apologizing because he didn't wanted the serpent hashira yelling at him.

As he went away, he still felt the glares of Obanai. Hesitantly he glanced back, seeing that you followed his figure whilst Obanai grabbed your arm and pulled you away, making you crinkle your nose at him. „Gonpanchiro!! Why were you staring at (mispronounced name)??". „Inosuke stop talking so rude about
(Y/N)-chan~". Zenitsu bubbled in, making Tanjiro laugh silently. „Ok guys stop arguing with that and I wasn't staring at her. My intention was actually to talk to (Y/N)-chan, but Obanai-san basically glared me away". He huffed in slight annoyance. 'I have to let someone distract him so I can get to her, but who..? WAIT- Mitsuri-san can probably help!'

{next day}

The following day Tanjiro found himself preparing a distraction with Mitsuri so he can finally talk to you. „Of course I'll help you with that!! But at the same time it's a good idea so I can go eat with Iguro-san again!". She clapped her hands in excitement as a pink blush came up her cheeks. „Thank you so much Kanroji-san! And for last I'd like to ask you something but you answer it if you only know it". She nodded, „Why is (Y/N)-chan so...sad looking. It's like she never is happy or is excited for something. And she doesn't talk much..it bothers me so much". He clasped his hands together tightly in his lap as Mitsuri put a hand on his shoulder. „I only can tell you small detail since Iguro-san won't tell the rest. So what I know is that he saved her on a stormy winter night and that day also her family was brutally murdered in front of her. Iguro-san took her under his wing, and never let's her go since then. But why she is so similar with Tomioka-san..I sadly don't know Tanjiro-kun". Tanjiro thanked Mitsuri as she stood up and went to ask Obanai to have lunch with her. And as the boy waited, it actually successfully worked as the serpent hashira gladly agreed. 'She really is so awesome! Thanks to her I can now properly talk to (Y/N)-chan'

You stood by the little pond in Obani's garden, watching the little fish swim around calmly. 'So peaceful..'
„(Y/N)-chan!!! Hey!!". Looking over from where the voice came, you spotted a burgundy haired boy run towards your direction. As he came to a stop, it's like a weight has been lifted up his shoulders. „I'm *huff* so glad *huff* your here!".
As he finally lifted himself up, sadly he still was met with your blank face and eyes...so sadly filled with sorrow. „Is there anything I could do for you?". The monotonous voice hitched in his mind. 'How isn't she smiling? Sh was saved and all..yet her past lingers on her mind all the time. No matter what it takes, I'll make you smile again (Y/N), I promise that !'
He snapped back when you out of nowhere poked his shoulder. „Oh yeah sorry! Let's talk a bit so we can get to know each other better!". He pulled your arm gently, leading behind the estate to sit on the ground full of flowers that you had planted yourself. Tanjiro sat down and patted the place besides him. You did so without opposition. Sitting next to him, you remained silent. „Tell me
(Y/N)-chan, do you know what happiness means?".

As Tanjiro saw your head shacking, a strong feeling came up his throat, his heart ached at this. 'How cruel was this world to you..?' He placed a finger on his chin, deeply thinking of how to change the way of your behaving and bring you back as a lively person. „Teach me Tanjiro-kun. About this feeling you told me...". The burgundy haired boys eyes widened brightly at your response, even though it still was monotonous. „I will help you with everything I got!! In no time you'll change this kind of way of yours". And so did your secret meet ups started, with Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke doing their best to make you laugh or even just smile a bit. „TANJIROOOOO!!! That's not going to work!! Let me be with Nezuko-chan instead!!". „Stop screaming you coward and do what Gonpanchiro said!!". Tanjiro face palmed as his nerves were getting to an end. „STOP THE SCREAMING!! We are trying to help (Y/N)-chan and if you behave like that, it's not going to work!!". At the scolding Tanjiro gave them, both Zenitsu and Inosuke shut their mouths close. But that's when something unexpectedly happened-
you started to giggle. And a small smile was plastered on your face. „Your all so ridiculous!! Hahah!!". The trio stared in misbelief at how sudden this was.

Especially Tanjiro was touched that such a dumb action of them made you laugh and giggle uncontrollably. His eyes sparkled in happiness as tears of joy built up. „You finally smiled!! Your happy (Y/N)-chan!! I-I..I'm so glad". Tanjiro wiped his eyes as you stood up from your sitting spot. Wiping off the dirt you walked up to him, the smile still present on your face. „I give you my biggest thanks in the world Tanjiro-kun! I never expected you'd actually would take this challenge upon you, but it was so worth it...right? I hope that Iguro is also going to be surprised!!". He laughed as the blonde haired and the boar masked boy joined in the laughter.

„Yeah it was a difficult time, but it surely was something special!".

Bonus:
You jogged back home as the sun started to show itself's from behind the mountains. The early chirping of the birds and calm wind was soon interrupted by a rather angry black haired male. „Where were you and why didn't you-", Obanai stopped scolding you as he saw the smile on your face. „I did something good. And I'm happy to have done it Iguro-san!". „If I may ask, what happened with you?! Were you hypnotized?!". Flashing him a toothy smile you responded; „It's all okay! Tanjiro-kun showed me that I don't have to feel upset because of what happened and that I should cherish the present rather than suffering in pain". A slight blush appeared on your cheeks as a tick mark appeared on Obanai's forehead.

„WHAT?!!"
