To be a hashira has it's ups and downs, but for you, nothing really mattered. At the age of six you witnessed the most tragic and horrific loss, that you've shut yourself out from feeling anything nor opening up and trusting people. But lately something no, someone has been letting you feel strange and warm inside. Your dull (e/c) eyes looked to the side where you spotted the burgundy haired boy, Tanjiro Kamado. Even though you ignored him or were harsh, he never complained and tried again and again to make you smile and forget about the past. And for that, you couldn't lie that you find that kind of cute? As you saw Tanjiro walk nearer, another girl was accompanying him, smiling and blushing. You hated this strange sensation inside you and the fact that the butterfly girl Kanao was so close to him. Hey! But why would you care, right? Without any other imaginations of yours, you disappeared before they spotted you.
And you thought they wouldn't notice you, but Tanjiro did. Kanao stopped as she saw the boy looking around, which made her curious. „Tanjiro-kun? Everything alright?". The boy nodded softly as he exactly knew who was hiding somewhere near, but in the end he decided to just go on with Kanao to the butterfly estate. Sighing in relief, you just continued to do whatever you would do, but his gentle smile never left your thoughts. 'He's to kind and that is going to bring him into danger-but not to show sympathy and other feelings isn't healthy right..? No!' You stopped the useless battle in your mind and decided to go where the two disappeared moments ago. „I'm an idiot for doing some and that is surely going to be my biggest regret!!". You muttered angrily as your breathing hitched a few times. Arriving there, the two sat in silence, admiring the cherry blossom tree in front of them. But soon the boy noticed your presence, an uncomfortable feeling coming it's way to his guts. 'What is up with (Y/N)-chan today? She seems to be glaring and her scent tells me that she feels insecure and not worthy of loving..'
Upon approaching them, you noticed Kanao's smile disappeared and she stared emotionless just like you, only that you were glaring currently and feeling anger boiling inside you. „(Y/N). What takes you here on such a day?". Her soft voice asked, but your thoughts took it as she was trying to challenge you. Clicking your tongue, your intense staring with her got the poor boy between you scared and confused what happened. 'If looks could kill..(Y/N)-chan would be the first one to murder us all. Her gaze is dangerous! But she feels empty and sad, I gotta change that somehow' While Tanjiro was thinking, your glare contest went on, the silence was on the edge of exploding into a fight. It's like the best idea plopped into the burgundy haired boys' mind. "Girls! Let's do a little competition and see who's more likely going to come out with their feelings first! I know it's not the best ides but a try worth it, don't you two think?". His eyes glistening with pure hope you'd participate in that, but you only shrugged. „Do whatever you want but please let us finish it as soon as possible". „It's okay with me Tanjiro-kun".
After almost three hours, you and Kanao have been doing emotionally exhausting things like hearing tragic stories, seeing how the demons took away families and much more to that. And the end result would be soon coming, making you sweat more thank seconds ago. Did you really needed to fight Kanao? Was it worth your stubbornness and selfishness of acting so stupid? No. She surely would be the better choice. The tests haven't been going too good for you, sadly. The thought of not getting nearer nor apologize plus confessing to Tanjiro felt like it swept away with every emotion Kanao showed. 'Why can't I do it?! Damn my stupid brain and heart!!' „(Y/N)-chan wins!". Looking up with your exhausted eyes, Tanjiro smiled brightly at you. „W-what? Why..?". The boy sat cross legged besides you, taking your hands in his rough yet soft hands. „You have been holding the feelings inside you because something happened and I've seen the hurt look on your face. It's alright to be not okay (Y/N)-chan". Tears started to run down your cheeks as Tanjiro gently rocked you forth and back. Kanao left the instant Tanjiro announced the winner, walking out with a small smile. 'She will need Tanjiro-kun more than I do now. Get her back up so she can be free again'

You and Tanjiro have been talking and he saw how much you actually can show emotions even through your barrier you've made yourself. „You know...I planned on letting you win. I have been having a crush on you and would gladly want to make you happy again so that you can live your life with joy". You both started to blush as you realized that there still were people who loved and cared deeply about you.
„Thank you Tanjiro. I accept your confession and will let you help me to go through my past experiences. I love you". You kissed his cheek gently with your slightly chapped lips as he chuckled.
„I am glad! Now we can go through it together and that I promise you!".
