Being the eldest daughter in your family had its ups and downs, but nevertheless-it was your duty to protect them when your father went out. Your duty consisted of cleaning the estate, take care of your younger siblings, cook and to go buying stuff if needed. And that was all. Then there were days you'd just sit around under the cherry blossom tree in the garden and draw or sing to yourself. It was a way to calm you down, since your father told you about the monster that lurked in the dark, it made you scared. Don't get it wrong, Michikatsu tried to say it in different words to a child like you, but..he couldn't stand telling this like a lie. Today was a chilly winter morning, the snow stopped snowing awhile and you headed outside. „Are you sure that you want to go out sweetie? It's pretty cold outside and dangerous". Your mothers voice popped out of the door, looking rather worried. „Of course I am sure mother! I'm just heading to a little walk".
You waved her goodbye and walked farther away from your home. In fact, you lied about the little walk. You were heading to your uncles estate and visit him and his little family. For some reason you didn't saw them for awhile so you thought that would be a nice surprise. But that was far away from what had awaited you. You saw Uta outside, looking rather stressed and breathing deeply. „Aunt Uta..?". Her expression changed into now a more worried than it was before. „What are you even doing here? You shouldn't have gone so far from home!". Guilt boiled inside you and you wanted to tell her what your intentions actually were, but stomps and angry yelling could be heard, louder and louder the nearer it came. Your father stepped out of the estate and froze when he saw you, his daughter. Michikatsu's expression turned back into a scowl as he threw you a glare. „You shouldn't be even here! Didn't I tell you something about visiting them! Your only allowed when I'm with y-„. Yoriichi stepped towards you and held his older brother back from any more yelling. Then, he smiled gently. Something you never really saw on your father's face..sadly.
„It's nice to see you come and visit us (Y/N). We do appreciate it but you shouldn't go out in such a kind of weather without your father. Understood that?". You nodded furiously and waited for the next actions your father was going to take, but he just walked away... Sighing, you waved to Yoriichi and Uta and sped up to your rather angry father. „I apologize for that..I was just feeling lonely and-„, you didn't finished your sentence as you got only glared more by the taller male. He then scoffed again, not even caring what you had to say. Arriving back home, the first thing you did was getting into bed and never come out again. Some time later your mother came in saying a quick 'good night' and went to sleep. But sleepiness wasn't going to catch you soon, so you decided to walk quietly around. The front door was slightly open and as you have guessed, your father was sitting outside. „Father..? What are you doing outside?". „I could ask you the same since it's past your bedtime". Ignoring his words, walking up to him you sat besides him. The night sky was filled with grey clouds as snow started falling down. The breeze fresh air send shivers throughout your whole body.
Michikatsu noticed your freezing, shivering and slowly pulled you towards him. Warm. He was so warm and comfortable you'd totally forgot what he had actually done. Something he does not do often as uncle Yoriichi. The male brought his hand to your face and caressed it with his thumb, the other one held you close to him. His body radiated warmth and kept you from freezing like before. No words were spoken..but it was a gesture that you treasure right now. „Since your born with a stronger body than your siblings, and if your willing to, I can teach you how to protect and fight". You looked up at him, with your eyes sparkling at his offer. „I..would love that. So I can protect our family when your gone and make sure nothing happens!". Michikatsu turned his head towards you, his hand patted your head as a small, yet smile formed on his face. „Then you shall become my successor, my dear daughter (Y/N)". Nodding furiously you hugged him again. He didn't hesitate this time, returning the little hug back.
„Remember: Whatever happens or may come at us, you will be my number one daughter. I love you dearly and deeply, so do I love the rest of our family. Don't ever forget that your a Tsugikuni, someone strong and brave. And when I'm gone, do your best in becoming my successor and protect all loved people".
Michikatsu looked down at your now sleeping face. He put his arms underneath your small body and lifted it up, brining you into the bedroom. Placing you down, he tucked you carefully in. As he kissed your forehead, he whispered:
„You will always be my precious little girl. Don't ever forget I love you..".
