Kyojuro Rengoku was currently training the young boy Kamado. You watched from afar and it made you feel surprised that the young boy learned so fast. The age gap between the both of you wasn't that big, you were only 3 years and 2 Months younger than him. And Senjuro (I love him) was of course the youngest child. You admired how your older brother would always have his oh so familiar smile on his face. It made you sad and sorrowful that you couldn't do that. Why? The treatment of the former flame pillar wasn't the nicest towards you. The beauty of your mother was passed on to you-and he hated it that you looked so similar to her. After yelling, beating or something else, Kyojuro would always smile and reassure you everything will be alright. But just one smile didn't help.
{flashback} It all happened in a so short time period. You wandered around your estate and trying to figure out why your mother left, why your father is upset and why everybody is sad. You wanted to make your father smile again and make sure he gets happy again. But that didn't go well as planned in your 6 year old mind. Slowly approaching the taller male, he was sobbing loudly and held beer in his hands. „Fathe-„ *slap* Falling on the wooden floor, tears started to escape your eyes. „GO AWAY!! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!". With that your relationship towards him became cold and distant. You surely knew that your mother was upset, and she was.
Kyojuro took care of your slapped face and kissed your forehead softly. „We should give him some time. It will become better!! I promise to protect everybody and you and Senjuro included". So he hugged you tightly, rocking you back and forth and humming a song your mother sang often before bedtime.
{flashback end}
It's been awhile since that day and you still couldn't face your own goddam father. But you knew to well he didn't wanted to see you..he felt guilty scarring your left side, yelling at you and even hitting you.
...Sometimes he wishes to turn back time and make everything right again, but he just couldn't...
„Big sister are you watching big brother again?". The sweet voice of your little brother called. „Yes and no. I'm actually more impressed by that Kamado boy..he seems to have improved a lot". The small boy nodded as Tanjiro bid goodbye with Kyojuro. The older male slowly approached his younger siblings, smiling brightly at them. Senjuro returned it, while you kept a serious one. „Hello how's it going you two?". His loud voice cheered. Senjuro started talking happily with him while you turned away. Of course like the caring older brother Kyojuro is, he noticed your frown. He hushed his younger brother inside so he could talk with you. „So are you going to tell me what's wrong again?". You knew he would ask that, he always did when you act like that. „I told you a thousand times...it's always the same reason. I wanted to make it up again..but I know he doesn't want it. He's hopeless". Kyojuro was clearly shocked by this sudden answer of yours. He never thought you could be even colder than you already are. „It's totally clear onii-chan. If mother would be still here, my face wouldn't be so ruined by this old bastard. With her we were all complete and whole..you are the one that is better than any of us. I could never be like you!!". You screamed as tears escaped your eyes.
Senjuro felt urges to cry too. Your words broke his heart. He never thought you think like this about your own family.. You stomped past him, clearly angry but Kyojuro still stood there. He was lost and had no words. For the first time he was lost in thoughts...
{time skip a few days later}
You stood in front of your fathers room. You clearly heard that he was drinking something. From afar your two brothers gave you a thumbs up whilst smiling nervously. Senjuro especially. Slowly you opened the door that revealed the older male sitting on a tatami mattress. He turned around, his glare made you shiver and your knees felt weak. „What do you want?". His words hit your heart. How can he be so cruel. „I came to visit you father. I'm mostly here to apologize..but you don't need to accept it. I will be still here and help my only family left. I forgive your actions that left scars. But I'm not weak and take responsibility for that". Your head hung lowly, expecting yelling or slaps. Instead you felt strong arms hugging you. 'He isn't really hugging me..is he?'
Kyojuro and Senjuro stood there and watched the scene happening in front of their eyes. „He..he still cares big brother..". Senjuro's voice was above a whisper as he ran and joined the hug. 'I knew deep inside he still is a good man' So he went and joined the hug. Shinjuro sobbed hugging his three kids tightly. „Remember father, we still love you and we will never be mad at you". Kyojuro softly spoke as you added: „Yes he is right. The past is behind so let's start over again". Senjuro nodded and wiped away his happy tears. „I'm happy to see that we all can be together again..especially you father and big sister (Y/N)". You hugged the little boy and kissing his forehead.
„I dearly hope to start over with you. I'm terribly sorry...I can't express how much it hurts. But I hope to be a better father for the future".
The three siblings and the father hugged tightly as all of them cried happy tears. Happy that they are all whole again.
Ruka watched her husband making it up to their children. A bright smile came up her face: „Finally you forgave yourself and can start over without me..I love you and our children".
