Tanjiro returned from a mission he was currently on and accompanied by Zenitsu. Inosuke still was somewhere on his own and dealing with the demons out there. But just as the blonde haired boy mentioned to Tanjiro, he had to go to the butterfly estate to let his wounds be healed. „B-but Tanjirooo!!! You can't BE like THAT!!". The burgundy haired boy sighed, the pain on his ribs stinging him directly and making him groan silently. Zenitsu of course noticed it and questioned himself if it was a good idea to just let him walk alone to go and see the butterfly workers. 'I think for the best is that I take Tanjiro there and then it will be hopefully fine..' And so Zenitsu insisted to 'follow' Tanjiro and to make sure he really does go there and let's himself get patched up.
And once Tanjiro entered the estate, Zenitsu left again. Tanjiro wandered through the hallway, his breathing hitched at the pain of every movement he does. „There you are Tanjiro! Come with me, Shinobu told be your wounded and I shall take care over you". The boy looked up to meet your sparkling (e/c) eyes looking directly back at him. Yet they seemed so..different. Whatever it was, Tanjiro never figured it out. As you led him into the room where he should lay down, you brought the most needed stuff to patch him up. And since he wasn't beat up that bad, you could heal him like it was no problem. Shinobu knew you were a demon and had to make sure you wouldn't attack anyone, so you had to find excuses and other things to avoid the badly injured slayers or hashira's. Until now your excuses worked well without that anybody noticed something suspicious. But the thought of getting caught still made you worried. „So that's all! The next two days you should take a break and sleep out your body well. And try to breathe steady and slowly so your ribs won't hurt you too much, understand!". „Yes! I will do that (Y/N)-cha!". He stated with a bright smile that made you feel happy in a way. „(Y/N)!! Shinobu-sama needs you immediately!!". Aoi bursted in, the sweat dropping down her face. 'It must be something important'
With that you left Tanjiro in the care of Aoi, for now. You went to see Shinobu and look what she wanted as you suddenly smelled the familiar metallic liquid that you haven't seen a long time now. Your eyes twitched and became slits and your sharp teeth showing themselves slowly. „My my! Come here (Y/N), I totally forgot about that. My bad!". Her voice eased the strong urge to drink blood and then the young woman led you in another room. „W-what..did you need me for S-shinobu-sama..?". She nodded slowly, her breath calming down slowly. „I thought you'd like to take care of Tanjiro for as long as it needed for him to heal up. The next couple of days there will arrive very hurt and bloodied slayers and that's why it would be the best for you to avoid this work". You sighed sadly, it was never easy being a demon, you had to keep certain conditions and follow Shinobu's rules that were strict and would come with consequences if you didn't hold them in. „I guess that I can do that. Will it really be that bad?". For your response, Shinobu only nodded gently.
{three days later}
You sat still besides Tanjiro, who was currently sleeping. Not much later Aoi arrived and gave you a small paper. „You should go and buy these herbs and medicine with Tanjiro when he finally wakes up, okay?". You nodded furiously and turned your body back to the sleeping boy. The boredom easily overcame you and so the thoughts in your head decide you should wake him up. Poking him on the nose, you chuckled softly. „Tanjiro. Shinobu-san asked us to go and buy some stuff for her when you wake up, so you'd be here for my protection". He smiled brightly, standing up and taking your hand. „Okay then! Just let me change and we'll meet at the front door". He let go of your soft hand and walked away to get dressed, but before you knew it, your cheeks were burning and a strange sensation built up in your stomach. 'What is this..feeling' „You ready (Y/N)-chan? Then let's head and buy the needed herbs and medicine for Shinobu-san!". He gently took your hand and walked towards the small town with you, a bright smile plastered across his face that wasn't going to disappear soon. And so the silent yet comfortable aura was lingering between the two of on the way to get Shinobu's important stuff.
You paid the needed herbs and medicine and met up again with a concerned Tanjiro, looking around and every corner possible. His hands gripped his sword tightly as sweat ran down his face. 'He..no Tanjiro should fight yet! But that means...a demon must be here...' „Don't come closer! A demon's here. It's smell is very strong and you could get hurt!!". The rustling bushes and growling made Tanjiro step up in front of you, holding a protective stand. But you let the bag down and disappeared suddenly, which left the boy confused. Ripping off your flower patterned kimono, your sharp claws and fangs showed themselves, leaving Tanjiro even more confused as a light shiver crossed him. 'She's...a demon too..but how..' In no time, you launched yourself in full speed towards the demon in front of you. 'I must protect Tanjiro...' ~~~~ The fight didn't last long and as soon as you realized, the demon was dead, a pile of ash left. „(Y/N)-chan!! H-how is this p-possible?!". Your (e/c) orbs filled with tears but the smile on your face made it clear to Tanjiro that something terrible had happened to you. Without any other words, he slowly stepped closer, a sad smile covering his handsome face. As he finally reached you, Tanjiro hugged you close and started crying.
„It's fine Tanjiro...nothing bad happened. And besides that, you and Shinobu have to keep this a secret. I am thankful for your kindness and..mostly your gentle gestures you've showed me. I sensed that you'd somehow figure it out due to me being absent when slayers or hashira's were in a deadly situation. But I'm really glad to have spent time with you". Tanjiro finally smiled happily. Your words indeed touched him deeply. „I actually never figured it out until now. But don't think of you as some monster".
