Aradhya's POV
I came back from school after a long day and found my mom already at home. She came home earlier?!! But she was saying that she will be late today?!! I shrugged. I don't have to stay at home alone now. That's better.
" Maa, ap jaldi ghar agaye aaj?" (Mom, you came home earlier today?) I asked her but she didn't response. She just kept looking at the floor like she was lost in her own thoughts. She was worried about something and I was sure about that.
" Maa, ap thik to hain na?" (Mom, are you okay?) I asked her asked her. She looked at me with a shocked expression.
" Oh, Ari, Tum!! Kab wapas aye yum? School kesa tha aaj?" (Oh, it's you, Ari!!! When have you come back? How was your school today?) She asked me. I smiled.
" It was good. Aap batao, itni tension mai kyun lag rahi hoo? Saab thik to hai na?" (It was good. But why are you looking so tensed? Is everything ok?) I asked her. She gave me a weak smile.
" I got fired." She said and I looked at her weirdly.
" What??! Lekin kyun?! Woh log to aapko ensure Kya tha na ki apko job mil rahi hai?" (What??? But why?! Hadn't they informed you that you are getting the job?) I asked her and she sighed deeply.
" Haan, lekin..." (Yes, but..) she sighed deeply.
" Kya hua, maa?" (What happened, Mom?) I asked her and she pulled me into a hug.
" Being a single mother is not an easy task, Ari. Not at all an easy task." She said to me.
" Yesa kyun bol rahi hai aap?" (Why are you saying that?) I asked her. She sighed deeply but didn't say anything for awhile. I waited for her to continue.
" Woh log bol to rahe thay k mujhe job milegi lekin woh log abhi kuch or hi mang rahe hai." (They informed me that I got that job but they are asking for something else now.) She said and I looked at her weirdly.
" Kya mang rahe hai?" (What are they asking for?) I asked her.
" What do you think they would ask from a divorcee?" She asked me and I kept looking at her shocked for awhile.
" Maa!!!" I hold her hand tightly.
" They were saying it was just the job of a PA but they may not meant it." Mom said.
" Kya bol rahe hai woh log abhi?" (What are they saying now?) I asked her and she took a deep breath then looked at me with a calm and collected expression.
" In one word they offered me to be Mr. Brown's mistress." She said coldly and I kept looking at her completely shocked.
" Insaan chahe jitne bhi upar pahunch jay woh taab tak insaan kehlane ki layak nahi hote jaab taak woh insaaniyat ka sahi matlaab nahi samajhta. Ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna, Ari, main raho ya na raho agar kabhi koyi yesi situation main pade aur tumse madad mange to kabhi uske weakness ki faidaa maat uthana. Kabhi bhi nahi." (It doesn't matter how far people reach in their life they won't deserve to be called a human being if they doesn't know the true meaning of humanity. Remember one thing, Ari, even if I am not with you, if someone is in such a situation and asks help from you never I repeat never take advantage of their helplessness ever) Mom said and I sighed deeply.
" I will not. I promise." I said to her. She nodded and sighed deeply. " Saab thik ho jayegi, maa." (Everything will be okay, Mom.) I said to her and she smiled a bit.
" Ari, I have brought you up as a strong girl. Never ever compromise with your life. Never ever bend before someone for anything. It's better to die with self esteem than living a miserable life sacrificing your self esteem." Mom said and I nodded.
" I will remember that, Mom." I said to her.
" That's like my girl!!!" She said and I chuckled.
" Abhi hum Kya kare, Mom?" (What will we do now, Mom?) I asked her and she chuckled.
" Tumhe kuch nahi kerna, Ari. Maa hai na? Maa sab sambhaal lenge. Tum apna padaee par dyaan do." (You don't have to do anything. Your mom is here and she with handle every. You just concentrate on your studies.) She said ruffling my hair. I sighed deeply.
I knew Mom was very tensed but she doesn't want to show that to me. I know that things are horrible for us now. But there is no way I could help my mother in such a situation.
" Maa, Kya hum Dubai wapas chaale?" (Mom, should we go back to Dubai?" I asked her.
" Nahi, Ari. Hum woha wapas nahi jayenge." (No, Ari. We will not go back there.) She said and I sighed deeply.
" Lekin maa, at least woha aapke dost hai Jo apke madad ker saktay hai." (But, Mom, there are your friends who can help you in this situation) I said to her.
" No need, Ari. We will manage. I already owe to Amna and Rasheed. I can't ever pay them back for their help time to time." Mom said and I sighed deeply.
" Ok. Mom. Whatever you think is right." I said to her but I was quite tensed about the fact that we had no income source right now.
All our savings we had spend already on mom's surgery last year. We didn't have much savings as well. So, I am not bothering about it. My mother is safe that's enough. We will overcome this surgery. I know we will overcome this anyhow. I just hope that the day comes sooner rather than later.
" Ari, Kya soch rahi ho?" (What are you thinking about, Ari?) Mom asked me. I shook my head.
" Kuch nahi, maa. Baas khud ko yehi bol rahi thi ki stay positive." (Nothing, Mom. Just was telling myself to stay positive) I said to her and she smiled.
" Right. Stay positive." She said smilingly.
Though it wasn't possible for me cause I was already too tensed about this fact that I wasn't even able to think of the word positive.
