Aradhya's POV
" Are you feeling ok now?" I asked Joan.
The duty hour ended. Juliet and the group left long back. Everything got normal as Asher handle the situation. He is always the most sensible one in the group. Otherwise these girl would made it a mess by God.
" I am feeling better now, Ari. Thanks for the help." She said and I nodded.
" That's great." I said to her. " Come, I will drop you to your dormitory."
" Thanks but I will manage, Ari. You have done a lot for me today already. You don't have to do anything else." She said but I shook my head.
" Come with me. I will drop you. You can't walk back to your dormitory today. Taking a taxi will be wasting money when I have my phooljhari with me." I said to her and she chuckled.
" You have given your bicycle a weird name." She said and I smiled.
" Yup." I said and helped her to get out of there. We reached the parking lot and took phooljhari out. " Hold me tight." I warned Joan and she chuckled.
" Surely." She said.
" When are you going back home?" I asked her.
" Going back in 2 years." She said to me.
" Oh!!! Don't your family members miss you?! You should go and visit them at least once in between." I said to her.
" I don't have a family. My parents got divorced long back and both of them have their new lives." She said and I sighed.
" So, they don't want you in their lives?" I asked her.
" They do but I feel out of place there with their new families. " She said and I nodded.
" I can understand that." I said to her.
" So you stay with your family here?" She asked me.
" I stay with my mom. My parents have got divorced as well." I said to her and chuckled.
" Oh, I can understand that." She said.
" You don't have any relatives other than your parents?" I asked her.
" I have my aunt and uncle. I used to go and visit them but in last 3 years I haven't met them as well." She said to me.
" But why?" I asked her and she sighed deeply.
" My aunt's husband's behavior is a bit weird toward me. I don't want things gets messed up between my aunt and me. So, I avoid visit them." She said. I gritted.
" Your aunt should know that and leave this kind of person. Do you think hiding this is saving her life?? You are keeping her in dark. That kind of people should be behind bars. They are the reason that girls can't roam around safely. They makes women feel insecure about their safety. Don't you think he is trying to harass someone else as well?" I asked her and she sighed deeply.
" I know but I really don't want to hurt my aunt." She said and I sighed.
" This is a wrong decision, Joan. You are encouraging him to do this with every single girl he knows." I said to her and she kept silent.
I knew she was uncomfortable with discussing about this topic. But I just couldn't hold myself back from explaining this to her. We reached her dormitory and then she left. I went back home. I had a long day. I needed to take rest and get ready for the next day. Every day is like a new challenge for me. Bearable yet. But God knows until when it will be possible. I needed to take a shower and most importantly I needed food and sleep. I walked into the living room and I found Mom sitting there in the living room.
" Maa, Kya hua?" (What happened, mom?) I asked her as I sat next to her.
" Ari!!!" She looked at me like she got a shock. What's wrong??!
" Haan, maa. Kya hua?! Aap itni tension mai kyun lag rahe ho?" (Yes, Mom. What happened? Why are you looking so tensed?) I asked her.
" Ari, job mil gyi mujhe." (Ari, I got a job) she said.
" Haan, woh to kuch din pehle hi mila na?" (You got that a few days back, isn't it?) I asked her.
" Woh wala nahi. Maine kuch din pehle apply Kya tha. Woh wala job mil gyi mujhe." (Not that one. This is the one I have applied for a few days back.) She said smilingly.
" That's great!!!" I said to her and she showed me the appointment letter. " Wow!!! Yeh kab mili apko?" (When did you get this?) I asked her.
" Aaj hi." (Got it today) she said and I smiled. " We don't need to be worried about money anymore, Ari." She said and I smiled.
" Haan." (Yes) I nodded. She sighed deeply before patting my head with teary eyes before pulling me into a tight hug. I hugged her back.
" You are suffering a lot for me, Ari. I didn't want to go e you such a life. I wanted to give you a beautiful life. I don't know how much of it I am successful in that. But I will try my best from now onwards." She said and I broke the hug before holding her hands and kissing on them.
" You know what, Mom?! You are the best mother in this whole universe. I am very lucky to have you as my mother. Thanks for giving birth to me. I can pay back for that ever in my life what you have gone through to bring me in this world. You fought with whole the world to give me a better life when we were left alone. You never bowed before anyone. You are strong and brave. I want to be like you one day, Mom. I really want to be like you." I said to her and she smiled kissing on my forehead.
" You are already, Ari. You don't have to do anything else for that." She said. I chuckled.
I really want to be like my mother one day. Strong and brave. I never ever want to be a heartless person like my father who doesn't value his near and dear one. I strongly believe that I will be grown up just like my mother. The best human being in the world for me. No one can pay back his or her mother for everything that she has done for them. Never ever.
