Aradhya's POV
" It's so gooooodddddd!!!" I said having the golgappa. I loved them. Asher was looking at me weirdly but I ignored him.
" Wanna have some?" I asked him.
" Nope. I am good. You have it." He said.
" It's so yummy. You are missing it. I swear." I said to him. He rolled his eyes.
" I don't want to burn my tongue. Sorry. You can have it as much as you want but don't involve me in this." He said to me and I rolled my eyes.
" You are missing something in life for real if you miss golgappa." I said to him.
" I am fine. I am not going to face the wrath of spices which are so murderous." He said and I sighed deeply.
" How can someone not like golgappa!!!! Horrible." I said trying to ignite him so that he agrees to have at least one cause he was missing one of the most important thing of India trip. This is unfair.
We were talking when we found the golgappa vendor was having a bickering with someone. I turned back to see who they were and I got it at once who they were. I sighed deeply seeing the person. This was so awkward to see that we still couldn't change our views yet.
" Bhaiya, unko aane dijiye. Woh bhi to customer hi hain na apke?"(Hey, let her come in. She is also your customer, isn't she?) I said to the vendor. I knew he wasn't willing to do so but he didn't say anything just let the person come in. She came inside and sat the chair next to me.
I smiled at her and she smiled softly. I swear her smile was as beautiful as my mother's. I sighed inwardly. We talk about the equal rights all the time but I haven't seen it for real when it is needed. The transgender community has been facing this discrimination since long. They were granted their legal official status a few years back but still everyday in life they are suffering with the vile words of people and even there are people who tries to take advantage of them which is very heartbreaking thing.
" Bohot bohot shukriya." (Thanks a lot) she said to me. " Mere bete ko golgappa bohot pasand Hain. Aur aaj salary mile na. Uske liye golgappa leker ja rahi hoon." (My son loves golgappa. I got my salary today. So, wanted to take some for him as well) she said and I smiled nodding.
" Aapke bete?" (Your son?) I said a bit shocked but then I realized may be she has adopted a baby and if I question about this it can hurt her self esteem. " Uska naam kya hai?" ( What is his name?) I asked her. She smiled beautifully.
" Aakash." She said and showed me photos of her son on her phone.
" Bohot pyaare bacche Hain apke." (Your such is so cute) I said to her. She smiled nodding. " Main Aradhya hoon aur yeh mere dost Asher." (I am Aradhya and this is my friend Asher) I said to her.
" Main Shital, yeha paas main hi ek NGO main kam kerti Hoon." (I am Shital. I work in an NGO nearby) she said and I smiled. She looked at Asher weirdly for awhile she whispered, " Aapke dost..." (Your friend...) She was saying but I stopped her.
" Woh angrez hai." (He is from England) I said to her and she nodded.
I talked to her for awhile and learned things about her life. She was a very charming woman. Then she left and we also came back home. I was just thinking that we couldn't do things for them properly yet. If we could then they wouldn't live like this. Our society is continuously forcing them to live a miserable life. They always face this discrimination. Most of their families have left supporting them or they had to leave home to save themselves. They should have the right to live the way they want but instead our society has given them a shackles of depression not accepting them the way they should. It's so horrible. So horrible. Asher asked me about Shital and I explained him things. He stayed silent. May be he was trying to register why people act so inhuman with them.
