Compromise

Aradhya's POV

" Are you out of your mind, girl?" Lizzy asked me angrily and I sighed deeply.

It's been a week since I am working with Lizzy but it is not a pleasant experience for me. It looks like I am not going to be able to handle this job for long.

" I am sorry,Lizzy." I said to her.

" Say sorry to the customer. Go." She said but I kept standing there.

I wasn't going to say sorry to him. He was trying to harass me. He has no right to do such things and now Lizzy is asking me to say sorry to him?! It's completely childish.

" Sorry, Lizzy. I can't. He was the one who tried to harass me. I am not going to say sorry to him and encourage him to do such things with other women. I am not going to do anything that will support such a stupid thing. I am sorry for that but I am not sorry for slapping him hard across his face. If you didn't stop me he will get a few more." I said to her and she sighed deeply.

" Look Ms. Roy, it's business. We can't disappoint the customers." She said to me.

" We can't disappoint the customers but we can let them insult ourselves, isn't it?" I asked her and she sighed deeply.

" Reality is not that smooth." She said to me. I shook my head.

" I know how cruel reality is but I am not going compromise with life. It was not my fault to say sorry. If it was my fault then you didn't need to ask me to say sorry to him. But Lizzy, if we compromise today it will encourage them to behave like this with other women in future. I am not going to encourage someone to do something wrong and if we let him do so then they will be encouraged to do such things." I said to her and she sighed deeply.

" But it can effect my business badly." She said and I sighed.

" Don't worry, Lizzy. We are not wrong to protest against the wrongs. If he complains about it then we have the CCTV footage. We can show the people what is right and what is wrong. There is no need to be afraid of such people. If you are afraid of these people they will scare you more. Don't let them have that chance to hurt you ever." I said to her and she sighed deeply.

She walked toward the customer and talk to him. I know that she will not take me seriously but I will not compromise with this anyways whether she likes it or not. Honestly I am not at all used to with this. I love my self esteem more than myself. If Lizzy has problem with that then she can fire me. I will leave happily but I will never ever agree with something stupid like this. It's not all about business. Where there is a question about self esteem there business can't be an issue. Not at all.

I walked out of the bookstore after a long day. It was Sunday and I worked full time. Though it was hard to manage Mom but I could manage her anyhow. I told her that I was going for group studies. I lied to her. This was the first time of my whole life that I lied to her. I was feeling bad for that but I had no other option. I hope Mom will forgive me when she will know the matter. I just hope so.

" Hey, Ari!!!"I heard a familiar voice and found Ardeyn smirking at me. I rolled my eyes. What is he doing here?!! Where is his best friend?! I looked around and found Asher standing a few feet away from him. I smiled at them.

" Hi, guys!!!" I said to them.

" What are you doing here?! Came to buy books?" Ardeyn asked me and I shook my head.

" No, I work-" I was saying but I heard Gabrielle calling me.

" Hi, Ari. Why haven't you come to the group study today?! I thought you will join us." She said and I smiled.

" I had some works. I will try to join you all next time. And Asher is here. He promised to help me. Am I right?" I asked Asher. He smiled.

" Sure. Anytime you want." He said.

This boy always keeps smiling. I have never seen him without that soft smile on his face. His smile creates a comfortable aura around. I had a lot of friends there in Dubai but none of them were like him. He is completely different from others. I haven't seen someone this calm and quiet. Even if someone tries to irritate him he handles it very smoothly. I shook my head.

" Thank you so much for the help." I said to him. He gave me a smile in return." Where were you guys going?" I asked them.

" We went to Heidi's house she was not doing well." Gabrielle said.

" What happened to her??! She was doing well yesterday." I said to her.

" She has caught cold. She will be fine in 3/4 days." She said to me and I nodded.

" That's ok then." I said to her.

" Were you going home?" She asked me and I nodded.

" Yes." I said to her.

" Let's have a coffee. Ardeyn will treat us today." Gabrielle said smirking at him and he nodded.

" On which occasion?" Ardeyn asked her.

" What about the incident earlier?! We will have latte today." Gabrielle said winking at Ardeyn and I chuckled. There must something happened with Juliet.

" Shut up!!!" Ardeyn said rolling his eyes. Gabrielle chuckled.

" It's all about latte." She said to him. He rolled his eyes. I chuckled.

We walked toward the nearest coffee shop to have Gabrielle's so called latte. I suddenly felt that I was no more feeling frustrated like before that I was after talking to Lizzy. I sighed deeply. I don't know if I need to leave the job any soon but one thing was very clear that I wasn't going to compromise about anything. Not at all.
