Ezekiel smiled as I pulled open the door, eyeing the cut on his face and scenting blood on his shoulder. "You didn't have to get yourself hurt in the process."
He sighed. "I'll keep that in mind next time." I stepped aside and he knelt to Zoey's level, removing his tie from her neck. She looked surprised because she forgot it was there. "Thank you for keeping this and your sister safe for me."
She blushed and averted her gaze. "Vivi, could have handled it."
He smirked. "What kind of man would I be if I let a princess fight for herself?"
She scowled. "Just go sit on the floor over there."
He blinked. "Wha-"
She rolled her eyes dramatically and pulled his arms to sit against the couch. "This doesn't hurt... unless your a big baby." He raised his eyebrows as she touched his face, then blinked in shock as his cut sealed and faded. "Okay shoulder next."
She pulled at his shirt. "Wait..."
She frowned at him. "I have to see how bad it is, take it off."
He looked at me in dismay and I shrugged. "It is inappropriate..."
She gave him a deadpan look. "It's skin and I'm not three until a few weeks from now... unless you're shy in front of Vivi."
He looked between us as I smirked, arms crossed leaning against the wall. "She needs to stop hanging around you."
She huffed. "You want me to fix it or not, you're taking up my time with Vivi."
He sighed and removed his shirt. She gave his mark a cursory glance before looking at his shoulder. She squinted. "This cut is deeper... water and a cloth, please."
I pushed off the wall to get her what she needed and she tapped the water in the bowl to make it glow before dampening the cloth and cleaning it. Ezekiel tensed then relaxed. "You're good at this..."
She didn't respond as she put both hands on either side of it. Once it disappeared she smiled. "This is for helping us. No more for you and you can go now."
I picked up the water and took the cloth from her as he replaced his shirt. "Heal me and kick me out, huh?"
She pursed her lips. "Could have skipped the healing part."
He chuckled. "Yeah, you are definitely related."
She beamed. "Thanks. Now, go away. She's mine now, you've had her all evening."
He blinked at me and I sighed. "I mean... she isn't attacking you on sight."
She pouted. "You said I can't unless he gives me reason..."
I nodded. "That would be correct."
She crossed her arms as he stood. "Call you later?" I nodded, he lingered in the doorway as she watched us closely. "She's not gonna look away is she?"
"Nope."
He pursed his lips. "I'll bring you a treat before you leave tomorrow if you go find something to do back there for 5 minutes."
I felt her contemplating. "Are you haggling with a toddler, Mr. Valcenia?"
"Whole breakfast... I like waffles and bacon."
He smiled. "Deal."
She checked the time. "5 minutes."
I bit my lip, trying to hide my smile. "How'd you get her to calm down?"
