5 minutes, that's how long it took the Warden to call after we left.  Derek answered, making me frown.  "You have a child in here, either pull over or he can call you back."

He nodded.  "Give me a sec..."  He set it in his lap and pulled into a parking lot.  "Okay, go ahead."  He was silent for a minute, but I could hear his father yelling.  "They disrespected her from the time they saw her.  What do you expect, unless you wanted them to get hurt?"

More angry words and I rolled my eyes, slipping the phone from his hand and holding it at a distance until he finished.  "I didn't catch any of that, however I have better ways to spend my time than hearing you rant and rave at your son."

He coughed.  "Sorry... I..."  I stayed silent as he collected himself.  "May I ask why you left so hastily?"

"So I wouldn't kill you guards."

He hesitated for a moment.  "I'm sorry if th-"

Ezekiel stroked my hand, not liking my deadly calm.  "I'm no Luna, no accommodations were made for Zoey, when asked to speak with you directly we were given excuses."

I heard shifting in the background.  "Surely there is a misunderstanding... please return and your every need will be attended to."

"I have no interest in returning, quite frankly.  My first impression has made it undesirable."

I could almost hear him racking his brain for a solution.  "I... maybe some accommodations nearby so we can have the meeting tomorrow."

I thought for a moment.  "Or we can stop wasting time and have it now."

"W- well, not everyone is prepared t-"  I sighed in disinterest.  "Yes, we'll have to hold a conference call, but please hear what we have to say."

I nodded to Derek.  "We'll be there in five... change your escorts and do have them briefed on their manners in that time."

"Of co-"

Zoey giggled as I hung up the phone.  "Vivi is mad."

I smiled at her.  "No, Vivi just cleared our weekend for better things."

Ezekiel stroked my cheek.  "You handled it beautifully and without hurting anyone."

I rolled my eyes as Derek started back.  "Yeah... let's see how long that lasts."

The new guards were there as we pulled up and even opened the doors for us.  "We apologize for the earlier misunderstanding."

I gave them a cool gaze as Zoey took my hand.  Ezekiel put his hand on my back.  "Show us the way."

They nodded and led us down a different set of hallways, I noted a few things as we went until we were ushered into a large conference room.  The Warden smiled when we entered.  "Thank goodness, please sit."

Several others began to trickle in shortly and then he turned on a video monitor.  There were 10 total that wanted to speak with us.  I sat silent watching as they eyed us curiously, being as they all at least 3 or 4 times my age, it wasn't surprising.

Once everyone sat, one leaned toward the Warden, he had blonde hair and brown eyes.  "You called us in to speak with children?"

I pinched Zoey's leg as she was about to retort.  "Just... let's begin."

Amethyst stirred.  Weak... all of them...

Hate to say that I agree...

The man that spoke first looked down at us.  "Yes, once the child leaves, this is no place for her."
