Ezekiel's parents smiled as we approach and his mom clasped my hands in hers. "I'm so happy you didn't run as soon as you saw."
I glanced at her son. "I didn't exactly have a choice."
She gestured to our chairs as her husband looked at Apollo. "Interesting weekend so far?"
Ezekiel sighed, I could feel his tension as he looked over the room. "That is an understatement. Everyone will be briefed Monday before we leave for training. He is her... bodyguard of sorts."
He looked me over. "Considering your reputation, I wouldn't think you needed one."
I scowled. "Again, I wasn't given an option."
He raised his eyebrows. "I look forward to hearing about it and hope you don't mind if we see what this training is."
I smiled. "You are more than welcome to do so."
He nodded and stayed standing as we sat. "Thank you all for coming to celebrate these mates, they are in a very rare situation, but we are happy that you all give them your blessing regardless."
I felt as the air got thicker, but couldn't pinpoint why. No one that I could see held any malice toward any of this and seemed genuine. Look at what we can't see...
I glanced around the room, at the doors and the walls, in the corners. Similar looking blondes and brunettes stood at all the exits. I sniffed the air and it hit me. Wolf's bane... gun powder... silver... fuck...
Ezekiel's dad held his hand out to us and as we stood I formed a barrier around us. As soon as we stepped forward and several gunshots went off and everyone hit the ground as they hit my barrier, all aimed at me. The doors closed and I grabbed Ezekiel's hand. "Wolf's Bane... how would your pack use it?"
He eyed the vents. "Bastards..."
I nodded. "You take the left ones." I lifted my hands and tried to focus on pushing the air back into the vents. "Apollo, we can't stay in here..."
He nodded and went to free the doors. Ezekiel's brow was furrowed and I glanced at his parents who were in shock. "You need to get everyone out now, I don't know how long they've been leaking it in here, I don't know what waits for you outside."
They exchanged a determined glance and nodded as Ezekiel's little brother came up. "Where will we go?"
I met his gaze. "East, past the training grounds, my pack will meet you. Make sure you get as many as you can to safety, I truly hope this is only directed at us." Just as the air was getting to thin to breathe Apollo cleared the first door and quickly worked on the others before going to find out what waited beyond.
He returned. "It looks all clear... there are fires somewhere in the South and North though."
I nodded and looked at Mr. Valencia. "Go. Apollo call Xavier tell him what happened and be en route. He'll take care of everything from there."
He stood. "Everyone file out and head East. Be cautious."
With more organization than expected they all moved quickly, I figured they would gather those not in attendance. Once they were gone we followed and Ezekiel pushed my head down as more shots were fired. He cursed under his breath as he began to shift, strangely calm. "Get her out of here."
I grabbed him. "You ca-"
He glared at me. "Go."
Apollo grabbed me by the waist and I struggled against him. "He can't! He'll get hurt!"
