I bit into Violet's shoulder as I left her warmth and we collapsed as waves of ecstacy lapped at us.  I don't know what it was about bloodshed that made us both damn near insatiable, but there should have been no way we had enough energy to act on it.  I could no longer move to at least make her more comfortable, I was sure my entire body weight was suffocating her.

I clenched my eyes shut as I got an arm under her and she groaned in protest.  "You need to breathe, My Love."

She shook her head and fell back to sleep, making me chuckle.  I tried to at least roll off and she growled.  "Stay."

I sighed.  "Wasn't going anywhere."

She nestled deeper into the bed.  "You're warm, no moving."

I gave up and complied, resting my head on her shoulder as sleep claimed me.

She was still sound asleep when I woke and I laid there just to hear her heartbeat.  I slowly got up and covered her body, creeping out as not to wake her.  Images of the night before flashed through my mind and I smiled.  At least I was there to help this time.

And everytime after...

I froze when I hit the bottom step and saw the bloodsucker reading a book in the living room.  I growled.  "What the fuck are you doing here?"

He glanced up and rolled his eyes.  "This is my master's home, I will guard her as she rests."

I clenched my fists.  "And how long have you been 'guarding' her?:

He shrugged.  "All was quiet when I finished speaking with her brother."

"And if it wasn't?  Or if something started after?"

He didn't bother to look up.  "I take my leave and return when it is quiet again."

His matter of fact tone was annoying and I didn't trust it as I went to make some breakfast.  "Whatever..."

He finally looked up.  "Last night... I only knew one who could be so delighted with ending lives and I've lived a long one."

What I found as I searched his eyes made my heart stop.  Admiration, respect, and maybe even a little fear were present, but there was something else... lust.  "Well, now you know."

He nodded and looked toward where it all happened.  "Her entire pack is the same.  Nothing could have prepared me for that, but I am happy I witnessed it."

I sighed, remembering it all and falling in love with my mate all over again.  "Yeah..."

He raised an eyebrow at me.  "And all of this... having an Alpha as a mate who enjoys killing, with a pack equally as callous... it doesn't seem to bother you."

I felt her coming as I chuckled, I was still standing here right?  "I was happy to be by her side to witness it this time.  She... she took my breath away, she always has, ever since I first laid eyes on her."

I missed what he said next, enjoying the sense of peace that had come over her.  She deserved it, she fought hard.  Her voice broke me from my reverie as I swear she had more wolves to fight than that.  No, fucking way...

Waking up was a chore the next morning and I glanced around to see my room torn to shreds.  I could feel Ezekiel was down stairs love and admiration radiating through him, but there was an underlying apprehension I didn't understand.  I grimaced as my muscle roared in protest as I put on sweats and his t-shirt to meet him.

"... bother you?"

I heard Ezekiel chuckle.  "I was happy to be by her side to witness it this time.  She... she took my breath away, she always has, ever since I first laid eyes on her."
