Finally, everything was in place for my random ass ball. Why did I choose a ball of all fucking things? Dinners and banquets were so much simpler. No matter, it was almost complete, just a few finishing touches and it would be done.
I smiled as I taped up the package that I could only pray would make it to her. No one knew where her territory was, the name of her pack, let alone her name or where the fuck she lived. How did she manage all that secrecy while still coming out as one of the strongest Alphas in the region, I would never understand.
But I knew things were delivered to them, her constant complaints about invites and flowers made that much clear. I shook my head, considering a return address, but knew she would jump at the chance to annoy me by sending it back, so I didn't bother, I didn't even leave a name.
I was deep in thought when my office door opened. "Is it ready?"
I turned, smiling. "Yeah, hopefully it makes it in time."
Alicia looked dumbstruck for a moment before shaking herself. "Oh?" She looked at the package. "There's no addresses on here."
I nodded. "They are difficult, but apparently this is how it's done."
She tilted her head. "What's in it?"
I shrugged. "A few things, please see that it is on the next shipment out."
She hesitated. "Who's it for?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Friends, you are asking a lot of questions. Is something wrong?"
She blinked, remembering herself before smiling softly. "Just curious..." She lightly brushed her fingers over mine and I retracted my hand, thinking about getting a new secretary once again as she subtly tried to get close. "Sorry... I'll take care of this, right away."
I nodded and sat behind my desk. "That'll be all, Alicia, thank you."
I saw her tense as I went to a strictly professional tone. "Anything for you, Alpha."
I laced my fingers in front of my mouth to hide my frown. "Told you..."
I glared at my Beta as he strolled in as she left. "Have you dealt with Brenda?"
He smirked. "Have I told her to be on her best behavior and not attack any of our guests without telling her who is coming. Yes."
I rolled my eyes. "Shouldn't have to be told."
He chuckled. "That girl has had a thing for you since grade school."
I sighed. "And my answer was always the same. She's not my type, let alone my mate."
He sat across from me. "There was that one time..."
I narrowed my eyes. "I was drunk off my ass and still with it enough to catch myself."
He got comfortable. "I heard about RedMountain... the Ice Princess come to life during the summer."
I smirked as he made a rainbow with his hands. "She did put that together well, had the outfit, cold expression, attitude, and everything."
He raised his eyebrows. "And you had the tie to match. Date?"
I sobered. "Escort."
He laughed. "Well you are the only one she has had not of her pack. So, who's the kid?"
I sighed. "Her little sister... just like her, in almost everyway."
He paused. "So... not your kid?"
