Chapter 31

We spent half the night with Ezekiel trying to touch me discreetly while mingling with his pack.  "That's a dragon!"

I smirked at him, overly amused.  "You're not very good at this..."

He looked at her exasperated.  "There's no way she'll remember them all."

She smiled proudly.  "Oh yes I will."

He scowled, but I felt he was happy.  "We'll see."  Some men from his pack approached smiling at him, then looking at the two of us with disdain.  He didn't miss it as his playful demeanor changed the instant they did it.  "Can we help you?"

Zoey turned to me confused and I was mad they would make her uncomfortable.  "What's wrong?"

I smiled at her softly.  "Would you like to dance, Ladybug?"

She beamed, forgetting about them instantly.  "Of course!"

She giggled as I guided her to the floor and swayed and twirled her.  I loved her smile and how she would try to copy the people around us.  "May I steal this lovely little demon from you?"

She beamed.  "ZayZay!"

He chuckled and picked her up to sway with the music.  "Are you having fun, Squirt?"

She nodded.  "ZeeZee owes me so many toys..."  I stepped back to give them time together and retreated to the balcony.

I figured out pretty quickly that Zoey could watch everything and her sister too as she shouted what each touch would cost me.  I was at least 20 toys in when some of my patrol men came up, showing their displeasure with them being here and making Zoey uncomfortable.

I clenched my jaw, all night Violet would distract her with something when she noticed, this time it was dancing.  I reluctantly let them go, frowning at the men.  "What?"

One of them glared in their direction.  "Why is she here?  I remember her from school."

I tried to reign in my anger.  "That's really none of your business."

They all looked surprised by my tone and simmered down.  "Alpha... she's bad news, can't you see that?  She caused so much trouble when she was here, the pack got better when she left, and now she's back with a child... i-"

"Amazing you only seem to remember bad things about her.  Not how she and her brother were bullied, or she left because one of us attacked one of her pack.  How about the reason we knew we had to get better is because her pack wiped the floor with us training."

They were stunned, shifting uncomfortably.  "Uh... well... the ki-"

I flared my nostrils.  "Is a child and all of you have done nothing, but make her uncomfortable since she's been here.  Even if you had a reason to be upset with my date, who you clearly know nothing about... what could a fucking toddler have done to any of you?"

A hand landed on my shoulder.  "I'll take it from here, Man."

I looked over at William eyes trained on Xavier and Zoey.  "Where did sh-"

He smirked.  "Where do you think?  She has company, not that she cares in the least."

I smiled softly and turned to go get her.  "Keep an eye on the little one for me?"

He chuckled.  "Of course.  Have fun and I don't do child tantrums well, so hurry the fuck up."

"Thanks..."

"Now, you motherfu...."

I couldn't help, but smile.  William had my back on this, but he is probably the only one that saw Violet clearly from the start.  He never lusted after her, he watched from a distance, he determined from the beginning she wasn't what people were making her out to be.  I was grateful for him and pissed that some of my own would blatantly try to catch her when she was clearly here with me.
