I was a nervous wreck, she was coming today with her sister.  She didn't give me a time other than that she'd come when she finished working and hung up as she got her and Zoey ready to go.  William walked into my office for the fifteenth time today.  "So... you need to calm down."

I glared at him.  "Shut the hell up."

He sighed.  "She lived here before and... you look like a maniac considering there is nothing you can do, but wait for her to get here."

I frowned.  "Thanks..."

His eyes tracked me as I paced.  "What did you do?"

I pursed my lips.  "Not telling you."

He chuckled.  "Whatever it is... she will love it and give you a really hard time about it like she always does."

I narrowed my eyes at him.  "What do you know?"

He smirked.  "That everytime you do something she very graciously denies you, but let's you do it anyway."

Now I was suspicious.  "Like what?"

He rubbed his forehead.  "You're on the fucking phone with her almost 24/7.  Don't start that bullshit with me."

I relaxed, he was right he poked fun at me, but he never actually interfered and actually helped with anything concerning Violet.  He handled pack affairs when I went to the events, he helped set up the ball then with redoing everything, he even sat silently as we went back and forth when we weren't engrossed in work.  Better yet, I wasn't, she was always doing something.

I pursed my lips.  "Sorry and thanks man, you've been putting up with me since all of this started."

He shrugged.  "I remember you in school before you ever knew she existed, the way you changed after.  I saw you go damn near mad when she was about to leave and then determined to make this a place she could come back to and feel safe.  I know how depressed you were during that time and how you lit up when you found her again."

I rolled my eyes.  "Damn you make me sound whipped."

He laughed.  "No, not whipped, just... she pushes you like no one else has, she makes you better.  Hell, before you were just doing the work no actual drive or need to change things.  She shows up and boom, our whole pack is shit and needs to get it together."

I smiled softly.  "It's true... and it's still true, we're better, but not where we need to be."

He nodded.  "And we are still working on it.  I haven't met my mate, but if she is her for you... you both are doing what everyone else feels is impossible.  You see each other then part ways to work on your separate packs.  Hell, it's the season and you haven't even marked each other."

I sighed.  "If I slacked off here she'd kill me.  I have no clue where she stays, only an idea of what she does..."

"Ever think she does that for a reason?"  I side-eyed him.  "Think about it man.  When she was here, that's all you thought about, so she left, yes for her pack, but you would have went with her no questions asked if she gave the okay.  No, she left you here to focus.  Now, you're still you, she knows this.  So, she doesn't tell you where to find her because you wouldn't be able to have you're mind here, where you are Alpha."

I pursed my lips.  "Sure you're not talking to her behind my back."

He laughed.  "Never heard the girl speak except that one time, don't know her name.  What I do know is she is smart, too fucking smart.  And she cares about you and what's important to you.  I know she's the one that called Monday night and told you get it together.  She does that for you, she makes you stop, think, regroup, and focus."

He smiled.  "Hell, you would have killed Brenda only to find out it was a bunch of stupid kids playing a prank, but after whatever she had you do... you came back and handled it.  Got the kids to fix what they damaged and everything back on track."

I nodded.  "True."

He pushed off to do whatever.  "So, chill out, whatever you did she'll either love it, kill you for it, or both.  It's just the way she is."

I slumped into my chair and stared at her picture.  I hated admitting he was right when he knew as little as he could about my mate. Her every move was calculated, not just for her pack, but mine as well.  Yes, she allowed me to stay on the phone for most of the day, but she made sure I did what I was supposed to do either before I started goofing off or before I went back home when I finished up while she had Zoey.

I sighed and sat back, noticing they were similar in some ways.  They both were calm in most situations, pushed me to be a better person, got me to chill out when I was wound up.  They knew nothing about each other, but could highlight why I need them, I couldn't count how many times I would want to kill my Beta, daily.

She would just tease me and say the very things I didn't want to hear, cold logic, clear reason.  Then... let it go, leave me to my thoughts.  He was the same, but again different.  I would be in a frenzy over doing something for her, then he walks points out she never actually accepts anything, but is pleased with whatever it is then walks out, never to bring it up again unless I start again.

I'd have to get them in the same room one day.  They could probably take over the world if they actually knew each other.  The thought made me smile, I'd long gotten over thinking William wanted anything to do with her other than the fact that she was with me.  He teased, entirely too close to home, she'd heard it and found it funny, saying he says stuff to make me try harder.  Maybe... while she was here I'd test the waters, it'd be nice if I could have her around him like she had around Xavier and Aurora.

My mind wandered to what they said in the hotel.  I frowned and stood, I needed to make sure Brenda didn't do something that would cost get her killed or me mate less.  I also didn't trust her to behave either when I did it, so I walked into William's office.  "Finally, something productive to do."

I rolled my eyes.  "I need your help with Brenda."

He smirked.  "Thought you'd never ask."
