"Man... Ezekiel stay here."
Ezekiel felt annoyed as he glowered at his Beta. "What are you talking about now?"
He swallowed a forkful of cake. "I already listed three things, need I continue? She made the food and this... cake is an insult... taste of heaven from scratch." Ezekiel flared his nostrils. "Even the icing... even the fucking icing."
Xavier chuckled as he took his glass. "No more for you before you really get yourself murdered."
He turned serious. "I'm not drunk."
"Yeah... okay."
Ezekiel rolled his eyes and went back to watching Zoey. "What are you drawing, Princess?"
She didn't look up. "Happy... you're friend is about to get kicked out though."
He blinked. "You sound positive."
She shrugged. "Vivi doesn't like..." She waved in his direction. "All of that and he's making you mad."
I glanced up from my book. "You know me so well."
Ezekiel chuckled. "He just talks too much."
She sat back and looked at what she had done. "Still not..."
When he got a good look I felt his heart swell. "That's amazing..."
She looked at him. "It's not done yet." Her face lit up. "Oh yeah! Vivi, the seashells."
I shook my head. "Too dark, Ladybug, in the morning."
She smiled. "Okay."
She went back to work and I watched as Ezekiel finished his fourth glass of bourbon. I could feel he was starting to feel it. "You've had enough too, sir."
He looked at me curiously as I took his glass and brought them bottles of water. "Oh... thanks..."
William stretched. "Think I'll head in, you coming?" Ezekiel just looked at him. "Figured as much."
I was curious at the disappointment in his voice and the way he watched us. "I'll go with you, got to get up early."
He smiled at my twin. "You don't stay close?"
He ushered him out of the door. "You ask a lot of questions."
When the door closed behind them, I tugged Ezekiel's sleeve as Zoey had her tongue sticking out, concentrating. I followed me to my room and immediately started to prowl. "It's just a room."
He smiled over his shoulder. "It's your room... your scent is everywhere here, I like it. Like your office."
I shook my head as I watched him. "You are a strange one."
He paused and picked up the orchid he had sealed for me. "You kept this?" I nodded and he beamed as he carefully put it back in place. "Wish we didn't leave the bear behind..."
I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall. "Why?"
He shrugged. "I'd probably take it when I left, it'd have your scent on it too."
When he finished, he turned to look at me. "Not to break your mood, but what's up with your Beta? He's different tonight."
He sighed. "He's annoying as fuck and trying to get under my skin."
I pursed my lips. "Sorry I asked."
He came over to wrap me in his arms. "I think a part of him wants to find his mate. Pretty sure he's testing me to see if I would really stay."
