Know that I choose to remember you not as the monster you were in your final moments, nor as the secretive, obsessive man you became after I found you in the desert. I should have seen the signs then. If I had, perhaps I wouldn't have to mark this empty grave.
This grave is for the man you were, and the man I will remember. He was the man who I'd talk and laugh with over tea long into the night, and the man who'd offer me supplies and a steed without a second thought. He was a scientist, a scholar and gentlemen. Wherever that man is, I hope he is at peace.

Debes saber que elijo recordarte no como el monstruo que eras en tus momentos finales, ni como el hombre obsesivo y reservado en el que te convertiste después de encontrarte en el desierto. Entonces debería haber visto las señales. Si lo hubiera hecho, tal vez no tendría que marcar esta tumba vacía.
Esta tumba es para el hombre que fuiste y el hombre al que recordaré. Era el hombre con quien hablaría y reiría mientras tomaba el té hasta bien entrada la noche, y el hombre que me ofrecería provisiones y un corcel sin pensarlo dos veces. Era un científico, un erudito y un caballero. Dondequiera que esté ese hombre, espero que esté en paz.
