That weekend Sapphire went to the auction with a huge amount of pictures with the hopes of selling them to people. She figured that a bunch of rich people would be writing out checks for a lot of the pictures that would be being sold.
Mackenzie, Kyleigh, and Sophia were going to meet her there later to buy some pictures also. When Sapphire got there people had these elaborate pictures taken with different lens at exotic locations. She thought that no one would buy her pictures because they were ordinary ones of different cities landscapes and sunrises and sunsets.
A woman approached her.....
"Hello ma'am" Sapphire said
"Hello young lady. Can you tell me about your pictures"
"Sure. These ones here i took recently when i was in Australia visiting my boyfriend. I used proper rule of thirds on the faces of the animals and used a small telephoto lens to take them"
"Interesting..... How about these ones?"
"Well these i took of the landscape of New York City at different times during the day and at night"
"Mmmhhmmm" the woman walked away
Sapphire was so bummed that no one was interested in her work. Everyone she talked to ask her many questions about her pictures however none of them bought any which made her upset.
At around 2:30 Mackenzie, Kyleigh, and Sophia came over to her right when she was about to give up and leave."Hey hows it going?" Kyleigh asked
"It sucks. No one bought any of my pictures"
"That sucks. Well maybe the ones you talked to aren't into landscape or animals"
Sophia said "you just gotta keep trying. You have real talent"Mackenzie went over to 3 woman who were discussing people work. She decided to try and convince them to buy Sapphire's.
"Hey excuse me" Mackenzie said
"Yes can we help you?"
"Yes you can actually. You can come look at some pictures of different landscapes and Australian animals that my friend has recently taken these last few months"
"I suppose we can take a look. I mean I haven't bought anything yet anyways" the woman said holding her check book
As Mackenzie turned around leading them to where Sapphire was set up she rolled her eyes and mocked the woman's voices because they were very high class people and it made her laugh. Back at the booth Sapphire and Kyleigh were snap chatting each other from 3 feet away from each other. Then Mackenzie and the women came over to see the pictures and Sapphire began explaining the pictures to them.
"Hello there" The woman said
"Hi would you like to hear the background of these pictures"
"Yes, yes we would"
"Okay so these on the left were taken in Australia by me when I was visiting my boyfriend. The animals and nature were so breathtaking that you could just see into the souls of these animals when they looked at you" she continued "and these here are of the different building around New York City"
"The pictures are excellent" one of the woman said
"I agree that they are wonderfully taken but i feel that you took them too safely"
Two of the women walked away while one stayed behind. Mackenzie and Sophia went over to see other pictures. And Kyleigh went to go find a bathroom. The women sat next to Sapphire and began talking to her.
"I don't understand what I did wrong. I use to believe that i took great pictures of people"
"Look sweetie, sometimes it's not how good the picture comes out but its how much emotion you think of when you see it" she said "do any of these pictures reflect anything"
"I thought that whenever i take a Polaroid picture of my friends it shows how we are having fun with each other" she continued "The New York City ones reflect how much i love the magnificent city"
"Some might not see it as reflection they may see it was unoriginal"
"I should just give up on photography since i can't even get someone to buy a damn picture from me"
The woman held one of the pictures in her hand and looked at it intensely. Sapphire had no idea why but the woman looked at every aspect of the picture. "How old are you?" she unexpectedly asked
"I'm seventeen"
"Look...sometimes people see age and they believe that children are too safe and they have no experience. With you I don't think that is entirely true. You said you have a boyfriend right?"
"Yes why?"
"Why isn't he in any of the pictures?"
"I didn't think people would want to buy a picture of me with my boyfriend. However, they would definitely want one of just him"
"You see. You'd be taking pictures of something you love instead of taking a picture in Rule of Thirds or with some boring Depth of Field" the woman put the first picture down and she held a picture of the empire state building. The date of when the picture was taken was on the back of it. "What's the significance about this date?" she asked
"My brother and I went to the top of the empire state building together after my father had died. He loved the city so much we wanted to see the entire city together to honor my father"
The women then put her purse on her lap and began looking through it. She shuffled through lipsticks, papers, credit cards, and mints until she found her wallet. She took out her check book and started filling out the lines and Sapphire prayed that the woman was going to buy a picture.
"Tell you what i'll buy that lovely picture of the Empire State Building, if and only if you keep taking pictures"
"It's a deal!" Sapphire smiled at her
As she got up and took the picture that she bought she took a beautifully crafted black picture frame out of her purse and put the picture inside.
"Some pictures are best taken when you least expect it" she winked "just remember that when you want to make a memory of something"
Finally Kyleigh came back to where Sapphire was sitting. She was thinking about all the woman had said to her in hopes of making her pictures look better and better as she takes them. Kyleigh had bought 3 pictures taken in the summertime at the beach because the beach is Kyleigh's favorite place ever. After that Mackenzie and Sophia were walking back with nothing in there hands so they didn't buy anything from anyone.
A man came on the loud speaker and said "Attention ladies and gentlemen the auction of pictures is now coming to an end. Begin removing your pictures and start cleaning up the booths that you sold from. Thank you".Sapphire was upset that she didn't get anyone to genuinely buy her pictures so she just started to clean up things. She was putting everything away and attempting to take her booth apart. As she was pulling a piece out of the pipe holding the sign up another pipe came out and started falling over her head. Just as it was about to make contact with her head someone grabbed the pipe and held it up for her. He was wearing a young and reckless sweatshirt with a pair of black jeans on and a pair of sunglasses.
"Oh my God thank you so much"
"Your welcome" he said
Sapphire looked up at him and the sudden sight of dirty blonde hair made her know exactly who was behind her.
"Ashton?!" she exclaimed giving him a hug. "What the hell are you doing here??"
"Me and Calum are here working with John Feldman on a new song" he said putting the pipe down and hugging Sapphire once more. "Luke and Mikey are going to come here in a few weeks so we can all be here for your graduation"
"Aw thank you that's so sweet!" She said giving Ashton a hug
