Sapphire was driving to the airport so she could meet this women named Piper who could get her on a plane to Australia. While she was walking through she felt that someone was following her through the airport. However, she could not get distracted and miss her flight.
She finally found a women waiting outside the door wearing a flight attendant uniform holding a sign that said Sapphire and Sophia. Sapphire walked up to her and said "I'm Sapphire you must be Piper" she looked at Sapphire and said "Yes, nice to meet you. Where's Sophia?"
"She's not coming with me on this trip anymore"
"Oh why?"
"She caught a stomach thing last night and it wasn't pretty"
"That sucks. Well anyways this way to the plane"
"Thank you" Sapphire said automatically turning her phone off so that none of her friends could reach her.
As they were walking in Piper shut the door behind her and from in the distance you could see Sophia in the window of the plane in the very last seat. When Sapphire got to the plane she found her seat and sat down in the aisle seat next to a women reading a book. Sophia was in the back not being noticed but keeping an eye on Sapphire and she was texting Luke at the same time.
The plane took off and was in the air for a few hours. Sapphire looked at the window and when she turned her head to the aisle of the plane she noticed the women next to her was reading The Jungle Book. Which happened to be her favorite book.
"Good choice of a book" she said to the women
"You've read this book?" The women said looking at her
"Yes several times actually. It's my favorite"
"Wow whats your favorite part"
"Definitely without a doubt The Law of the Jungle" Sapphire said moving over a seat to sit next to the woman
"That's a beautifully written section it describes how Rudyard thinks about how people need to rely on friends and family in order to survive"
"Very true" Sapphire agreed
They talked about Rudyard Kipling for what felt like ever but Sapphire didn't care because someone had the same interest as her for once. After talking for a while Sapphire took a nap on the women's shoulder. She dreamed about Luke and having him be with Sapphire instead of going on tour. When she woke up she looked around the plane and asked the women where they were and for the first time she looked at the women and thought of her as a mother figure to her.
"Sorry for falling asleep on you"
"It's totally fine i was looking at some clothes online the whole time. You didn't even budge while sleeping"
"So....a beautiful teenage girl on a plane by herself next to a stranger talking about the jungle book" she said describing Sapphire "now your either running away from home or just leaving for a while"
"I'm actually going to try and fix a relationship" she said "it didn't quite work much at first because he's always traveling but i want to see him and apologize"
"Apologize for what exactly, if you don't mind me asking"
"I don't know. Just to see if he'll accept it i guess"
"Honey, can i give you a piece of advice"
Sapphire nodded her head accepting the women's advice as she took her hands. She hoped that for once in her life someone was actually going to help her see what she was doing and give her the clarity that she needed. This random stranger was giving Sapphire more of an impact on her life than her own mother did.
