It's been days since Sapphire has come outside. She would always just sit at her window and watch the ice form around the sides of it because of the cold January they have been having. She would just sit at home and not leave.
Every couple of hours Sapphire would stare at the headphones that Luke had given her as a present. She knew that she had been missing Luke so much and couldn't handle being without him anymore. So she finally got up and got the headphones from her dresser. She looked at her text messages with Luke and found the link to him singing the unreleased son Wherever You Are. She remembered what he said when they were at the pier about her playing that song whenever she missed Luke. Knowing that this would be the perfect time for her to listen to the full song. She put her headphones in her ears and tilted her head back against the wall looking up at the ceiling. Once the first cords of the guitar started to play she tightly shut her eyes and through her head back once more and started to cry even though she didn't want to cry anymore. As the first verse began to play of the song she heard Luke's voice and it sounded exactly like it did when he played the acoustic song for her at the pier. About half way through the song she decided to put it on repeat so she could just keep listening to it over and over again.
Sophia had decided to come over to see how Sapphire was doing. When she walked in she saw that she hadn't moved much except to get her headphones.
"Glad to see you moved at least once so far" Sophia said trying to be funny
"Not funny" she said
"Well neither am i so its all good"
Sapphire made a smile at Sophia and just looked back out the window. Earlier that day it started to rain making the snow outside slippery and sloppy. Now the sad music and Sapphire looking out the window reminded her of a sad movie.
"Okay....." Sophia said sitting down next to Sapphire "we are gonna fix you"
"You can't fix whats far too broken"
"Well you've never had me to fix it....so we're gonna start by having you move from this spot"
"You know I've been sitting here for over a week now and you know what I've seen down there in that alley"
"What?" Sophia asked with caution
"I've seen lovers, admirers, protectors, and the heartbroken putting messages all over the wall" Sapphire said looking down at a small alleyway that was across from her house.
It was an old building that was closed down after the death Of Sapphire's father. His real estate was the only thing keeping that business alive. It died along with her father. Ever since it was closed strangers from all over town and the neighboring towns on Long Island would come to this alley and put notes and trinkets between the broken bricks that were near to falling off the wall.
"Why have you only noticed it now?"
"Because sitting at this window for so long helped me see the kinds of people there are in this town"
"Wow....." Sophia said
"Okay, so how are we gonna fix me"
"First, were gonna take that week old makeup off of....well everywhere on your face"
Sapphire nodded her head and even laughed a little and allowed Sophia to fix her makeup.
"So what song were you listening to?"
"It was a song Luke told me to listen to when i missed him and i did"
"Well i know a song that will bring you out of your shell that will help you stop being so sad"
She stopped doing Sapphire's makeup and put a song on the iHome that is next to Sapphire's bed. The song was I Don't Fuck With You by Big Sean. It was the song Sapphire could rap entirely and always made her laugh when she listened to it with her friends.
"Okay, makeup is done. Now you gotta change your clothes for once this week. Something edgy with some sexiness"
"I've got the perfect outfit, wait here"
Sapphire came out about 10 minutes later wearing black silk leggings with a red flannel shirt around her waist. And a light grey long sleeve shirt with the number 14 on the front with a denim vest on the outside and to finish off the outfit she had timberland boots on her feet.
"AH you look amazing" Sophia exclaimed
"Okay now we're gonna finally take you outside so you can breathe fresh air instead of breathing in those air freshener fumes that are starting to fade"
"Fine but i'm gonna go to that alley and see some of the notes that people left this week"
"Okay, i'm meeting Kyleigh for lunch today you can come if you want later"
"Maybe....."
Sapphire and Sophia left her house and she went out to the abandoned alley where people leave their love notes for their soul mates to find.
