The Girl Standing Front Row (revised)

Chapter 12

Sapphire couldn't be more nervous for her date tonight. Every five minutes she would wipe her palms either together or on her dress because she began to lightly sweat. Her arms felt flabby and moist while her face was staying absolute perfect. The clock read 6:14 and she didn't want time to continue because she wasn't ready to go on a date with the hot leader singer of her favorite band. It all still felt like a fantasy. She has yet to move from the full length mirror that hangs behind her door. Her friends were sitting on her bed starring at her as she refused to move.

"Thank you guys for being here with me. It truly means a lot to me" Sapphire said looking back her best friends sitting there on her bed.

"Your welcome"

"Yeah you know we're always here for you"

Sapphire smiled at them finally calming herself down. She finally turned away from the mirror and went to sit down next to her friends. She opened the bag of starburst jellybeans because they were her favorite and she began to eat some. The old fashioned clock she had in her room read the time 6:34. Mackenzie motioned to the time indicating that it was probably time for her to leave now. Sapphire looked also at the clock to make sure she didn't read the time wrong.

"It's show time" Kyleigh said.

"Okay lets do this thing" she said in complete fear

"Want us to drive you to the restaurant?" Mackenzie offered

"No thanks i can drive, but i'd really appreciate it if you could just stay here until i get home"

"Of course we'll stay here but just so you know we're gonna be going through your fridge for food"

"I'm fine with that knowing that when i get back you'll both be here"

The three of them entered into and big group hug and they walked Sapphire to her car. When she started the engine she closed her eyes and took a huge deep breath in and then began driving down the block to begin going to the restaurant. When she finally pulled into the parking lot she found a parking spot right next to the restaurant. She turned off the engine to her car and sat there for a minute. She once again closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths to herself. She finally worked up the courage to get out of her car. When she walked up the curb she noticed Luke standing inside the door of the restaurant trying not to be noticed by his fans. Luke was wearing black skinny jeans with a certainly beautiful black button down shirt. When she finally opened the door Luke's eyes lit up like a christmas tree and his eyes widen out to Guam.

"Hey Sapphire you look gorgeous tonight"

"Thank you you don't look so bad yourself"

They went inside and got a seat at a table. Sapphire told Luke that it would be a good idea if he sat facing away from the door so that no fans would see him and interrupt their date.

About 20 minutes into their date things were beginning to calm down and Sapphire was getting comfortable they had ordered their food and were waiting for it to arrive. Just when Sapphire thought nothing on her date could go wrong she notice a particularly familiar person coming through the door. She immediately put her head down and began to freak out to herself.

"Whatever you do don't look at the door while i sit here with my head in the table. I'm really sorry but they can't see me"

"Okay just relax want me to go into the bathroom?"

"Ummm" she looked by the door "yes go right now thank you so much"

When Luke left the table Sapphire sat there looking at her empty plate hoping no one would notice her. When she finally looked up she saw the one girl she couldn't stand, standing right in front of her.

"Hey Sapphire, what are you doing here?"

"Hello, oh you know just having dinner"

"With anyone special?"

"No" as the waiter came with their food "well if you don't mind"

As the girl walked away from Sapphire she grabbed her phone and texted Luke that it was safe for him to come out from the bathroom. When he came back and sat down he had an awkward confused expression on his face Sapphire could do nothing but apologize to him for what just happened.

About another hour past and they were just paying for their meal. Sapphire thanked Luke for a wonderful night when they started to get up. He picked up her jacket for her and helped her put it on like the gentleman is he. Then he walked her out to her car. As they were standing outside talking to one another Sapphire was just about to leave when Luke said "you know we should really do this again because i really like you" he said kissing her cheek.
