That afternoon Sapphire and Luke left the hotel in hopes of spending their last few hours together doing whatever they wanted. They drove around for a while looking for something to do together without being seen by his fans. They wanted to just be alone.
Luke's flight was going to leave at 6:00pm that night and the time now was 1:04.
After a car ride of silence for the both of them they finally pulled the car over in front of the pier over looking the city.
Sapphire sat their with her head down for a few minutes while Luke was speaking.
"You being here silent isn't going to make you miss me any less when i leave" he said "sometimes people just go on different paths"
"If we were truly on different paths you wouldn't have spoken to me that night we met"
"Fair point, but whether i did or i didn't i would have found my way too you"
"You really believe that" Sapphire said lifting her head up finally looking at Luke.
"I do" Luke said putting his hand around your jaw holding your head in his hand.
He slightly leaned in closer and closer to her and kissed her. He didn't pull away until Sapphire put her head back down again.
"Kissing you makes me miss you already"
"You know what you can do when you are missing me when i'm gone"
"What's that?"
"You can put headphones on and escape the world by listening to this song". He said as he grabbed his acoustic guitar from the backseat and opened her car door letting her out.
Sapphire sat on the hood of the car with her left leg hanging over the side. Luke sat in front of her and began playing an unfamiliar song.
"For a while we pretending that we never had to end it but we knew we'd have to say goodbye" Luke sang "Torn in two and I know I shouldn't tell you But I just can't stop thinking of you Wherever you are"
Sapphire began to have tears forming within her eyes. She couldn't look away from Luke and couldn't stop listening to his beautifully infectious singing voice.
Once he stopped playing Sapphire asked the question "what song is that?"
"Its a new one we have never played it live yet. And i thought it was necessary that you hear it from me right now"
As he took his guitar off "well it was completely necessary" she said giving Luke a huge hug thanking him for making her feel better.
After spending some time at the pier alone together Sapphire and Luke got in the car to drive back to the hotel. But when Luke found a little old fashioned 20's style ice cream shop in town he suggested that they should get some together before he leaves.
And so they went inside and sat down in a booth and ordered themselves some ice cream. The time was now 4:07."Whats your favorite ice cream flavor?" Luke asked
"Ummm probably cookie dough"
"What about classic chocolate?"
"Of course! You can't not like chocolate"
They sat there learning more about each others hobbies, goals, ideas, and favorites and after a while they didn't want to leave. They had their own cup of ice cream and shared a chocolate milkshake.
*incoming call from Calum*
Luke picks up his phone "hey Calum"
"hey are you coming back to the hotel or should we just meet up at the airport"
"I think airport would be better because we aren't done eating right now so i'll call you when i'm on my way there"
"Okay i'll bring your bags to airport"
"Thanks mate"
*hangs up the phone*
The time was now 4:49
Luke and Sapphire were enjoying their last day together stuffing their faces and not caring about what was going to happen next.
*incoming phone call from Mackenzie*
"Hey Mackenzie" Sapphire said
"Hey, me and Kyleigh are going to go with the guys to the airport so we can meet you there"
"Okay, we'll be at the airport soon"
*hangs up phone*
The time was now 5:22
Once the waitress came over to give us the check she made a certain face that made it look like she knew who Luke was.
They had given the money to her and allowed her to keep the change because they were in a rush to get to the airport.
